Description

no. e noee.
f Be it known that we, WILLIAMF. Mann- RIFLE COMPANY, OF FLY-MOUTH, MICHIGAN, A" "CQRPORATIOY F MICHIGAN.
tblwmit my cmem: I
rI'H'AM-and ERNEST S. Ron, citizens'of the :United States of America, residing at 'Pl'ymouth,"in the .county of Wayne and housing by a transverse pivot d. 60 State of M10111 an, have invented certain L representsv the usualptrigger pivoted I "new and useful mproyementsin Aipsfiuns,
of which the following is a specificatiomreference being had therem to theaccompanying drawin s. I
The invention relates guns or rifles of the bre down type, and consists in the general construction of a gun of this character, and particularly, to the formation of the trigger guard, sprmg abutment, and the fulcrum on which the stock turns during the breaking down movement.
I I The invention further consists in'variousdetails of construction, and in the novel '20 arrangement and combination 'of parts as be more fully hereinafter set forth.
r In the draWings,-Figure 1 .is a vertical I permit of breaking downthe stockfor the I purpose of cooking the Ion 'tudinal section throllligh an air gun emsition; Figs. 3 and 4 are sectional perspective views illustratingparts of the gun; and Fig. 5
is a section on line :v-az'Fig. 1.
In the drawings thus briefly described, A and B represent the usual stock and barrel sections of the gun, pivotally connected to I gun. The stock is' provided with the usual casin or; housing 0 at its forwardend, and the I arrel is fashioned at its rear end to form a casing D for "the reception of the trigger mechanism, the

The disk H piarticularly to air a tute the abutment and stock fulcrum. The

egun are K is alink forming the plunger rod and stock vengaginga,t t s forward endi-the loop section F vo f the--rod, and bein pivoted at itsrear-end thin the within theicasin D, andiM- its spring I A single mem er 0 bar curved intermediate of'its ends to form the trigger guard proper 1?, while the forward an'd rearward end portions of the bar constibar is rigidly secured to the casing D by The forward end of the bar is upturned, as indicated at J, bearing against the disk I and forming the desire abutment for thespring. The rear end of 75,
thebar extends longitudinally, as indicated at Q, -and its extremity is connected to the casing C of the-stock by atransverse pin e.
b0 our inventien; ig. 2 is a similar 'The lower wall of'the casingD is slotted-lon-- I 25 view, s owing the parts in a different pogltudinall'y to receive the trigger and the 80 ends of the bar 0, and the bar is so fashioned that the portions beyond the guard lie within the *casing D and the stock housing 0, as
. plainly shown in Fig. 1.
For the purpose of holding the stock in its proper relation to the barrel after the breakmg down has been effected, we provide an automatic lock, consisting preferablyof latobvious from its construction.
hat we claim-as ouninvention is,.- 1. In a breakdown air gun, the combination with the barrel andstock sections, of the 100 :plunger, spring, the trigger-,f and, a single memberconstituting {a} triggerguard, spring I abutment and stock fulcrum,

In a breakdown air gun, the combination with the barrel and stock sections, of a trigger guard, the plunger rod,1spaced disk members sleeved u said rod limiting t e outward movement of the forward disk, an abutment carried by the trigger guard'limiting the inward movement of the'cornplementary disk, and a compression'sfring intermediate the disks. 5-. n a breakdown .air gun, the combina- 20 tion with the barrel and stock sections, of a on the rod, a stop upon plunger rod within the barrel polygonal in cross section, spaced disk members sleeved upon the rod, a pin extending through the rod limitin the outward movement of the forward (115: member, a lug upon the complementary .disk projecting downwardly within a slot in the barrel section, a rigid abutment adjoining the complementary disk, holding the same against rearward a compression spring coiled movement, and about the rod intermediate the disk members.
In testimony whereof we aflix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
