Description

LAURENS KENT, F DORSET, VERMONT.
MODE FASTENING BEDSTEADS.
Specicationof Letters Patent No. 911, dated September 12; 1838-.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, LAURENS KENT, of Dorset, in the county of Bennington and State of Vermont, have invented a new and' Improved Mode of Forming a Bedstead- Post in Two Parts, Connected Through the Bedstead-Frame or Rails by Screws or Bolt in such a. manner as to form a firm,
' cheap, and substantial bedstead.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction.
I construct my frame or rails A of two inch plank live inches in width framed together at the ends by match or miter. Through this match or miter I make a two inch hole. I turn the bottom par-t of the post with a tenon on the top five inches in length with a screw Bcut on the end three inches. This is put through the hole in the frame. In the lower end of the top part of the post C I `cut a screw to it the tenon above the frame, this when screwed together confines the frame and forms a firm post easily taken apart or put together.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- The forming a bedstead-post in two parts connected by a wooden or iron screw or bolt through the frame or rails of the bedst-ead as herein described.
`LAURENs KENT. [1. 5.]
