DEVICE FOR REMOVING BURS FROM PIPES.
Specification of Letters Patent.

device which can be rotated around the cut end of a pipe and which will effectually smooth or press out the bur or burs formed on the inner and outer surfaces during the cutting o eration.
In the ollowing description reference is had to the accompanying drawings in which,-
Figure 1 is a side view ofmy invention. Fig. 2 is a front elevation showing the same applied to a pipe which is illustrated in longitudinal section in this view and in cross section in Figs. 1 and 3.. Fig. 3 is a side view illustrating a modified form of construction.
Like parts are identified by the same reference characters throughout the several views. The supporting member A is provided with a fixed mandrel B at one end which is adapted to be inserted in the end of the ipe C; The mandrel B is provided wit a rounded face I) which is socketed and provided with rollers D, suitably journaled in the sockets and ada ted to bear upon the inner surfaces of the pipe at its end margin, the rollers being in a position to extend across the bur or inwardly projecting flange formed on the ipe during t e cutting operation. A movab e member F is pivoted to the supporting member-A at f. This member F is also socketed and provided with a roller G which is journaled therein in a position to bear upon the outer edge or end margin of the pipe 0, preferably in a radial line extending from the center of the pipe between the rollers D. The roller Gis moved inwardly and ressed against the pipe by means of a screw t readed rod H l which has threaded engagement in an aperture formed in the outer end of. the member A with the inner end of the rod H in a position to bear against the outer or free end of the member F in the rear of the roller G. This rod H also serves as an operating handle and is preferably provided wlth a cross piece I at its outer end to facilitate turning it in its screw threaded bearings.
The device having been adjusted to the pipe in the position shown in Fig. 1 and the rod H having been turned inwardly to enga e the end of the pi e forcibly between the roTlers D and G, the evice is then rotated around the pipe by the operator until the bur is removed. The operation of removing the bur may be performed during a single rotation of the tool or if desired a series of successive rotations may be performed and the roller Cr additionally tightened upon the bur after each rotation;
Referring to Fig. 3 it will be observed that a blade J is substituted for the roller G in'the -member F. This blade may be formedof hardened metal and may be removably mserted in a dove-tailed groove in the member F with one edge projecting preferably in a slightly trailing osition as shown.
Having thus d scribed my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,-
1. In a device of the described class, the combination of a sup orting member, a mandrel thereon adapte to enter the end of a pipe, a movable member pivoted to the supporting member in a position to receive t e wall of the pipe between it and said mandrel, a screw having threaded bearings in the suporting member and arranged with one end 1n registry with the outer or free end portion of the movable member, and a bur remover, mounted on said movable member.
2. 4. In a device of the described class, the
combination of a supporting member and two laterally projectin members, one rigidly 10 and the other pivota y connected with the supportin member, and adapted to receive the wall 0 a pipe between them, a roller car- I ried by the pivoted member in a position to bear upon the margin of the e, and means for pressing said roller forcl y against the pipe, said pressing means comprising a screw threaded rod having its outer portion extended to form a handle.
