To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS TowNSEND, a
citizen of the United States, residing at p blocks for fences, which are to be made preferably to the height of the fence.
The invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts, which will be hereinafter fully described and pointed out in the claims.

A represents the mold which can be made in any desired shape and the inner surfaces of which can be made to form a smooth or rock face surface on the artificial stone or cement fence as desired, and the molds are preferably made of light boiler iron or steel, and the sides 1, 1 are preferably made in two sections, and 2, 2 are the end plates. The sides are provided with openings 3, 3 which are adapted to receive the pins 4, 4 on the end plates 2, 2. Clamps 5, 5 are journaled in bearings 6, 6 on the sides 1, 1 and the ends of the clamps extend around and over the end plates to hold them snugly against the sides, thereby making a tight connection between the sides and ends of the mold. The clamps are preferably provided with cams 7, 7, which cams are adapted to engage the edges of the end plates when the clamp is forced around to make the engagement between the sides and end plates and thereby making a secure connection.
The end plates 2, 2 are provided with ridges 8, 8 at their upper inner faces to form grooves in the molded stone or cement block. After the side sections and end plates are placed together and securely clamped the core 9, which is preferably tapering throughout its length and provided with a flanged base portion 10, which is offset as at 11, is inserted. The upper end of the core is received in openings or recesses 12, 12 formed in the upper ends of the side sections, and the olf-set portions 11 of the flanged base portion are received in recesses 13 in the lower ends of the end plates.
The end plates 2, 2 are provided with studs 14, which are adapted to receive a large hook 15 for suspending the mold and connected to an suitable converging means for conveying tie molds to different places. After the mold has been suspended it is turned bottom upwards and the cement or material which is used in making the artificial stone fence is poured into the mold and tamped, and a bottom plate 16, which is provided with a flange 17 having offsets 18, is placed over the bottom of the mold after the core 9 is removed. The core 9 forms an opening entirely through the mold. The iange portion 17 will iill the opening made by the end of the core and the offset portions will enter the recesses 13. After the bottom plate has been placed over the bottom of the mold hooks 19, 19, which are pivotally connected to the side sections, are hooked over the bottom plate, when the mold can be righted and conveyed by the hook`15 to a drying room, when the side sections and end plates are removed, and the molded article is left on the bottom plate 16 to dry and harden, when it will be ready for. use.
By this mold I am enabled to make artificial stone fences of any height, and large blocks can be shipped or conveyed to any point when they can be immediately set up without the necessity of building a mold upon the ground where they are to be placed.
It is evident that more or less slight changes might be made in the form and arrangement of the several parts described without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, and hence I do not wish to be limited to the exact construction herein set forth, but
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A mold, comprising sides and ends, the sides and ends connected together at the top and havinga centrally located recess formed partly in the edge of each, and the ends having notches in their opposite ends, clamping means for detachably holding the sides and ends together, and a core held at its opposite ends in the notches formed in the upper ends of the sides and the lower end of the ends respectively.
2. A mold comprising side sections and ends, clamps for holding the side and end sections together, the side sections having recesses at their upper ends and the ends having recesses at their lower ends, a core received between the sides and ends adapted to enter the recesses in the side sections, and the lower end of the core entering the reA cesses in the ends.
3. A mold comprising side sections and ends, clamps for holding the side and end sections together, the side sections having recesses at their upper ends and the ends having recesses at their lower ends, a core received between the sides and ends and adapted to enter the recesses in the side sections and the lower end of the core entering the recesses in theends, a bottoni plate and means on the side sections for holding the bottom plate in position.
