MOLD FOR MAKING ARTICLES 0F CONCRETE 0R PLASTIC MATERIAL,
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 733,735, dated J uly 14,1903. Application filed September 6, 1902. Serial No. 122.300. (No model.)

Be it known that 1, JAMES A. MoNAMEE, a citizen of the United'States, and a resident of Cambridgeport, in the county of MiddleseX and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Molds for Making Articles of Concrete or Plastic Material, of which the following is a specification.
' This invention relates to improvements in molds for making articles of concrete or plastic material-such as, for instance, cornices, sills, jambs, heads, pillars, &c.'for building and similar purposes, audit is carried out as follows, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure l is a top plan view of the improved mold, partly shown in section. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the bottom board of said mold.
Fig. 3 is a cross-section on the line 3 3 shown in Fig. I; and Fig. A is a side elevation of the improved mold, partly shown in section.
Similar letters refer to similar parts wherever they occur on the different parts of the drawings. The improved mold is composed of a bottom board A, provided on its upper side with a pair of parallel longitudinal grooves a a and a pair of parallel transverse grooves 01. a, as shown. In connection with such grooved bottom board A, I use a pair of detachable side boards B B and end boards D D. Each of the side boards B is provided on its under side with a tongue 1), adapted to be inserted in and fit into one of the grooves a on the bottom board A, as shown. Each of the said end boards D is likewise provided on its under side with a tongue cl, adapted tobe inserted in and fit into one of the transverse grooves C C arescrews passing throughperforations in the side boards B B and screwed into the ends of the boards D D, as shown, and said screws serve as means for securing the side and end boards together during the molding operation.
In practice I prefer to arrange the inside of each of the tongues b flush and even with the interior faces of the sides B B, so as to cause a true and perfect corner to be made atthe junction of the bottom board and the said side pieces when the plastic material is placed in the mold. In a similar manner and for a like purpose I make the insides of the tongues dd on the lower portion of the boards D I) fiush and even with the interior faces of the latter. I also make the insides of the vertical tongues d d on the end boardsD D flush and even with the insides of the latter, as
shown.
In using the improved what may be termed a knockdown mold for the purpose of molding articles from concrete or plastic ma-' terial I first place the bottom board Ain position on a bench or othersuitable work-support. I then place the side boards B B in position on the bottom board, with the tongues b b engaging the grooves a a. in the bottom board. I then place the end boards 'D D in position relative to the bottom board A and sides B B, with the lower tongues d d engaging the bottom-board grooves a a and with the vertical tongues 01' d engaging the vertical grooves b b on the interior of the side boards B B, as fully shown in the drawings. 1 then secure the 'side. andend boards together by means of thefastening-screws O O, as shown. The improved mold is now in a position for molding the plastic material E, as shown in Fig. 4:,which is introduced in a semiliquid form in the mold and allowed to set andharden, after which the fastening-screws G0 are removed. The side boards B B are then readily removed from the bottom board and end boards, after which the end boards are removed from the bottom board, leaving the molded article resting on the bottom board, from which it can readily be removed to any desired place for storage or transportation, as may be desired. 7
Having thusfully described thenature,construction, andoperation of my invention, I wish to secure by Letters Patent and claim- A knockdown mold, for molding articles of plastic materials, comprising a bottom board having longitudinal and transverse grooves in its upper face, said grooves extending the entire length and breadth of said upper face, detachable side boards having tongues on their bottom edges adapted to fit into said longitudinal grooves in the bottom board, the inner face of said tongues being flush with the inner face of said side boards, said side boards of a length to extend past the transversely extending grooves of the bottom board, said detachable side boards further provided with vertical grooves in their inner faces near their ends, said vertical grooves of the side boards registering with the trans verselyextending grooves of the bottom board, detachable end boards having tongues on their bottom edges adapted to fit into the transversely-exten ding grooves in the bottom board, the inner face of the tongues on the bottom edges of said detachable end boards
