SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 781,611, dated January 31, 1905.
Application filed September 23, 1904- Seria1N0.ZZ5,701.

Be it known that I, HAROLD A. Low,a citizen of the United States, residing at Lake City, in the countyof Calhoun and State of Iowa. have invented a new and useful Holding-Flask for Making Fence-Posts, of which the following is a specification.
My object is to provide a flask specially adapted for molding the composition post as set forth in the United States Letters Patent No. 719,551, granted January 12, 1901.
My invention consists in the construction, arrangement, and combination of separable parts, as hereinafter set forth, pointed out in my claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a top view of the flask from which a section of its length is removed and in which wires are extended longitudinally and supported in the corner portions and wires designed for fastening fence-wires thereto are extended transversely and their ends in contact with longitudinal wires as required to serve as electric conductors. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view of the flask on the line :1: .1 of Fig. 1 and shows the positions of all the separable parts relative to each. other. Fig. 3 is a modification of Fig. 2 and shows the sides of the flask hinged to the base and the wires designed to be electrically connected with longitudinal wires extended at their end portions between the twisted longitudinal wires.
The numeral 10 designates the flat base of the flask. It is preferably made of wood and may vary in width and length. It is also provided with cavities u in its top face and center to admit the central loops of wires 12, that must be placed in the flask before plastic composition is placed in the flask. The mating sides 13 of the flask are detachably connected with the base in vertical position and inclined toward each other from the one end to the other end. Dowel-pins 11, extended through bearings 15, fixed to the outside faces of the sides 13 and into perforations in the base, as shown in Fig. 2, retain the sides securely connected with the base, as required in practical use. Triangular strips of molding 16 are fixed 1 to the inside faces at the tops and bottoms of 5 f the sides 13 for shaping the corners of posts molded in the flask. Metal clamps 17 are placed over the tops of the sides 13 to aid in retaining them perpendicular on the base 10. End pieces 18 and 19, preferably made of plate metal, are placed in kerfs in the end portions of the strips 16 and provided with apertures for supporting wires 20 extended longitudinally (preferablytwo twisted together, as shown in Fig. 1) as required to retain 6O them in the corner portions of the flask to be 5 embedded in posts formed in the flask by 1 plastic composition (sand and cement or other suitable material) poured or tamped into the flask. 5
In place of dowel-pins hinges may be used for connecting the sides 13 with the base 10, and the ends of the wires 12 may be placed between the longitudinal wires 20, as shown in Fig. 3.
Having thus set forth the purpose of my invention and the manner of its construction and use, the practical utility thereof will be readily understood by molders and others familiar with the art to which it pertains.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a flask for molding fence-posts, aflat base provided with cavities in its top face and center, mating side pieces detachably fastened 30 on top of the base and end pieces provided with apertures in their corner portions to support wires extended longitudinally through the mold, arranged and combined in the manner set forth for the purposes stated.
2. In a flask for molding fence-posts a flat base provided with cavities on its top face and center, mating side pieces detachably fastened on top of the base and end pieces provided with apertures in their corner portions to sup- 9 port wires extended through the apertures and strips of molding at the inside faces of the mating side pieces, arranged and combined in the manner set forth, for the purposes stated.
In a flask for molding fence-posts, a flat 95 base provided with cavities in its top face and center, mating side pieces detachably fastened l on top of the base and end pieces provided of molding on the inside faces and top and bottom edges of said mating sides, end pieces provided With apertures in their corners to I5 support Wires extended therethrough and clamps detachably connected With the tops of the side pieces, arranged and combined in the manner set forth for the purposes stated.
HAROLD A. LOW.
