DISPLAY-REEL.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 8, 1908.
Application filed June 29, 1907. Serial No. 381,623.
'useful Improvements in Display-Reels, of
which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in display stands or reels. Its objects are primarily to provide for readily and expeditiously gaining access to the interior of the stand or reel, as in placing the goods or articles therein and in removing them therefrom; to etlect that purpose in a simple and effective manner; and to reduce the number of parts to the minimum.
Said invention consists of certain features or instrumentalities substantially as herein after "fully disclosed and specifically pointed out by the claims.
In the accompanying drawing illustrating the preferred embodiment of my inventionFigure 1 is a side elevation thereof. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section viewing upward. Fig. 3 is a like section, viewing downward. Fi at is a vertical section taken on the line mw of Fig. 2. Fig. 5 is a similar section produced on the line y-y of Fig. 2. Fig. 6 is an enlarged detail view, disclosing more especially the separable co lar-clasp for each shelf. J
In carrying out my invention, I employ a suitable casing 1 for recei ing the articles for exhibition or display as usual, which may be of the general outline shown or other contour, and mounted in operative position in any suitable way, preferably as disclosed by my Letters 'atent numbered 83-5318, and dated October 30, 1906. Said casing has passing centrally through it, as in said patwhich is equipped with suitable shelves 3 preferably of the outline disclosed, or approximately dislelikc construction, and which shaft with its shelves, is designed to be turned or revolved, in bringing the articles or goods placed upon said shelves to a common point for convenient access to the operator, in like manner as also disclosed by said patent. All of the parts as thus far described are also embraced in said patent. It will be noted, however, that, in this instance, I provide a single door or closure 4, in contradistinction to a double door, which has extending inward therefrom, near its extreme bottom and top edges, lateral arms or brackets 5, which arms have prefe ably connected or swiveled thereto grooved caster-wheels or rolls 6 to permit of the r separate or independent 'movement as later described.
Rails 7, preferably formed of suitable pieces of rod metal, are suitably secured to the top and bottom of the casing 1, upon the inner surface thereof, and are inclined for the greater portion of their lengths to conform to the angle of an opposite panel of said casing as at 8, being, however, spaced otl' therefrom. The remaining portion of each rail or rod is caused to assume a curvature, as at 9,.opposite the opening; and in. contact with these rails are caused to travel the grooved caster wheels orrollers 6 for giving direction to the movement of said door or closure as it is opened and closed in order to confine its said movement within certain limits in said casing, and which arrangement retains the door without the aid of other means, in position when open or closed, as will be readily seen. It Wlll also be noted that the shelves or disks 3 are each formed in halves primarily for their application to, and removal from the shaft 2, the respective halves of a shelf being hinged together as at 10 and having suitably secured thereto half-collars or clasps 10 etl'ective for embracing said shaft. Each two half-collars or clasps is connected or held together by pins 11 which are readily withdrawn when it may be required to remove said shelves, the pintles ol the hinges of said shelves also being readily withdrawn which it is obvious is also necessary for that purpose.
I claim--- l. A display reel or stand provided with an outer casing having an opening, a door or closure for said opening, and guide rails secured to the top and bottom of the casing, each having a portion of its length extending in the corrcspomling angles of a panel of the casing and having its remaining portion curved opposite the door opening.
2. A display reel or stand provided \v'th an outer casing having an opening, a door or closure for said opening and guide rails secured to the top and bottom of the casing, each having a portion of its length extending in the correspomling angles of a panel of the casing and having its remaining P01 tion curved opposite the door opening, and
.means carried by the door for engaging the door-opening, said door OI closure having latguide rails consisting of swiveled rollers or eral brackets extending inward and ecyaipped A display reel or stand, provided with a closure or door, and the stand or reel cas- .ing provided, at the top and bottom, upon the inside, With rails each having a portion 01" its length extending in the corresponding angl with a. panel of said casing and having its remaining portion curved opposite the with swiveled grooved rolls or whee s travehng upon SEtlCl rails.
In testimony Whereof I afiix my signature, Y
in presence of two witnesses.
