To all whom it may cofricern:

Be it known that I, EDWIN HALL HUM- PHREY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lancaster, in the county of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Drawers-Supporter, of which the following is a specification;

This invention relates to drawers supporters.

The object of the invention is to provide an article of this character which shall be simple in construction, efficient and durable in use, which, when positioned upon a pair of trousers, will be invisible, and which shall be capable of being secured in place without the employment of .stitches for the purpose, or any other extraneous fastening means.

W ith the above and other objects in view, as will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction and combination of parts, of a drawers supporter, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, and in which like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts, Figure 1 is a view in perspective of the completed article. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view, on an enlarged scale, taken through the waistband and lining of a air of trousers showing the article assemble with the lining. Fig. 3 is `a detail view of the blank from which the article is made.

The article is made from a strip of sheet metal, preferably one that is resilient, and is stamped by ap ropriate machinery to the proper form, an comprises ahead l, a shank 2 provided with a prong 3, and a pin 4. lhe head 1 is preferably dished, although it may be flat, if preferred, and is of greater width than the shank. The prong' 3 is formed by stamping out a length of the metal for the purpose, and is preferably spear head shaped, and projects upward and away from the head. rlhe pin 4 is of the contour shown, or otherwise, and is curved at its point toward the shank and preferably rests thereagainst.

In constructingr the article from the blank, after all the parts have been fmished, the shank is iirst bent to lie parallel with the head, or approximately so, and forms thereby a loop or bend 5 in which the drawers loop will rest, and is then rebent, forming a Specification of Letters Patent.

second loop or bend 6, which will engage with the upper edge of the lining L of the trousers waist band B, and the pin 4 will then have its point 7 curved toward the shank, thus to insure penetration of the lining L and will, by preference, bear against the shank. As will be noted., the prong 2 points upward, when the article is assembled with a pair of trousers, and thus in the direction opposite that of the pin, and opcrates to prevent the lining from working downward with relation to the shank, while the pin holds the device assembled with the lining. i

In ositioning the supporter, the pin is inserte between the trousers band and the lining and is pushed down until the lining engages the`bend 6, this procedure being e'liected by flexing the shank away from the pin. As soon as the shank is released, it springs inward and forces the prong into the lining, and thereby'completes the attachment of the device.

It will be seen from the foregoing description that although the improvements herein defined are simple in character, they will be thoroughly effective for `the purposes designed, and will result in the production of a useful and fhighly effective article.

I claim:

1. A drawers supporter comprising a head, a shank, and a pin, the shank being disposed in approxin'iate parallelism with the head and with a portion of the pin, and being pro- .vided with an upward projecting prong disposed towards the. pin, the point of the pin being curved to lie close to the shank.

2. A drawers supporter comprising a head, a shank bent to lie approximately parallel with the head to provide a loop engaging bend, and a in bent in approximate parallelism with tiie shank to provide a trousers lining engaging bend, theshank boing provided with an upwardly extending prong projected towards the pin and the point of th(` pin being bent toward the shank.
