TRACK FOR DOOR-HANGERS.
No. 902,221..v
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. t2?, 1908.
i Application filed March l1, 1903. Serial lofllltl.
fo all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that we, HENRY L. Fnmus and Howden J. Fniuns, citizens of the United States, residing at Harvard, in the county of lllcllenry and State `of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Tracks for Door-Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in track for doorhangers, and is fully described and explained in the specification and shown in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure l is a. front elevation ofour .iinproved track showing a door-hanger in place therein; Fig. 2 is a vertical section in the line 2 of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a vertical section in theline 3 of Fig. 2; and Fig. 4t is a section in the broken line el. of Fig. 3 looking downward..l i
Referring to the drawings A represents a series of track-sections, each of which is sub stantially cylindrical in form and is slotted along its lower side as illustrated. Each of the sections has at each end a short slot. a at. the top, that is directly opposite to the main slot..
y'ided suitable for a Nachi'nentto the Wall of the barn or other structure to which the track is secured, and eacli b which supports a depending substantially cylindrical sleeve slotted at its lower end to conform to theslot. in the track A. The sleeves B1 are secured to the horizontal Web l) by means of rivets b1 the heads of which lie Within the engage with the slots` a in the upper part of the track so as to .aline the track-sections properly. The sleeves at the ends of the track are closed by caps, one of C. The track is asthe following manner simple and convenient. The first bracket is secured to the Wall of the barn or other structure in the usual manneiga cha'lklineor other straight edge being usually provided to make the alining which is particularly of the brackets simple and easy. After the bracket is secured in position, the rst tracksection is inserted in the sleeve thereof with the notch of the track-section engaging the sleeve and the next bracket is` slipped up over the opposite end of the l'u'st track-section and secured in place to the slipped into A serie4 of brackets B are prohas a horizontally l l the opposite end of the sleeve of the second l bracket and so on, until the track `is coinl pletely erected. '.llhe door-hanger is then placed in position and the caps the track. it. will be l ner of asseinbliilg is exceedingly simple, in
l that it Vvermits the track to be made in short l of great con.
lengths with the advantages l venience to the dealer arising from the fact lthat the sections can all be of standard length and readily packed in 'small space,
the requisite nuinber of sections being given l1 to the user to enable hiin t0 assemble a l track of the desired length. y
l Referring now to Figs. 2, 3 and 4, a suitable construction of hanger for use With our l Will be seen illustrated, the hanger being generally indicated by the reference letter D The hanger is of that type l adapted to run within the. holloi'v of the track and conform roughly to the curvature thereof, and it. is provided with a projecting yoke extending through the slot in the lower portion of 'the tr improved track 1 supported by means of straps E (Fig. l). "his construction is such that the hanger can run readily along the track and the door i can be swung outward at will to serve as a canopyv .in front of the opening. 4
"We realize that considerable variation is possible in the details of construction of our improved device, Without departure from the spirit of our invention, and We do not intend therefore to liinit ourselves to the specific forni herein shovvn and described.
r'What we claiin as new, and desire to secure by' Letters Patent, is#
l. The combination with a. series of short lengths of hollen7 cylindrical track each slotted on its lower face and adapted to receive internally a hanger, of a series of brackets for supporting the track-sections, each bracket having sleeves .lengths at the ends thereof and serving p support the lengtlis, the
coincidently with the slots in the track-sections to permit the' passage of projecting hanger-portions. lengths of hollow track, each slotted on its lower face and being adapted to receiveI therein hangers, of a. pluralitv of brackets the -track-secfor supporting and coupling having a. sleeve surrounding the tions, each ASS lGh'OlS TO HUNT,
placed upon evident that this man ack, which yoke isprefer ably pivotally connected to the door to be surrounding the sleeves being slotted lllO 2. The ctnnbination with a series of short ends of'adjacent sections and means for preventlng relative rotation of the sections Wlth respect to each other, each bracket-sleeve be'- ing slotted' to permit the passage of a projecting hanger-portion. y'
The combination with a series of short lengths of cylindrical track slotted` at the bottom and adapted to receive ytherein hangers, projecting portions of Which'can pass through the slot, of a series of brackets for coupling and supporting the sections, each having a sleeve surrounding the adjacent ends-of the track-sections, and slotted coincdently `with rthe slot in the section the
