To all 'whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, VrLLIAM BUMM, a citizen ol the United States, residing. at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful 'Improvements in Salt-Cellars, of which the followingis-a specification.
This Vinvention relates to saltcellars, the object being, to vprovide a saltcellar which is so constructed that the salt therein will flow'` readily out of the same, thereby overcoming the diliiculties now existing with saltcellars when used in damp climates.

A further object of my inventionl is, to provide a saltcellar. which is very neat in appearance, and one which is exceedingly simple and cheap in construction.
Another object of my invention is, to so connect the body of the saltcellar to the base and neck, that it can be ,readily removed when desired.
These objects are obtained by the novel arrangement and construction of parts hereinafter fully described and shown inthe accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1, is a perspective view of my improved saltcellar. Fig. 2, is a vertical section through the same, and, Fig. 3, is asperspective view of the saltcellar, the cap 'and body being detached.
Referring to the drawings, A indicates a base which is formedof any suitable metal,
and is provided with oppositely disposed upwardly projecting rods B, on the upper ends of whichv is secured a neck C, which is pro vided' with an internally threaded portion C and an annular groove C2, for the purpose hereinafter fully described.
A cap D provided with a threaded neck portion is arranged within the neck C, the cap being provided with perforations, so that the salt can readily pass through the saine. An annular Harige A is formed on the base over ,which is adapted to place the lower portion of thetube E, forming the body portion of the receptacle for holding, salt. The tube being secured thereon by a ring F, which securely binds it to the flange A. The upper end-'of the tube E extends into the annular groove C2 of the neck C and is secured therein by a ring G, which fits within 'the groove and locks the tube therein. v
The body is formed of any flexible material, such as cloth or rubber, whereby it will give when it is-squeezed. In operation the cap is removed and the receptacle is filled with salt and the cap is then replaced, and it will be seen that by pressing on the sides of the body, the salt therein will be broken up if it has become hardened, and at the same time will be forced out through the' neck, thereby overcoming the diiiculties of saltcellars now 'in use, ,as the salt in the same becomes lumpy or very damp when used in damp climates, so that it is impossible to use a saltcellar as the salt therein will not pass out through the perforations in the ca -IFrom the foregoing description it will be seen that I have provided a saltcellar which is provided with flexible sides, sothat by pressing on the same, the salt willbe forced outwardly when the saltcellar is inverted.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. A saltcellar comprising a base provided with rods carrying a neck provided with a perforated cap, an annular flange formed on said base, said neck being provided with an annular groove, a Aflexible bodyformed of a tube having its upper end arranged in said groove and its lower end arranged over said flange, and means for securing said tube in said groove and over said flange.
2. A saltcellar comprising a base provided with rods carrying a neck, a cap arranged on said neck, a flexible tube connecting said base and neck, and means for securing said tube to said base and neck.
3.
