)iv-invention relates toV improvements in collars and more lnirticularl) to that class commonly termed holse collars. objects are to provide means on the rim roll for preventing the haine from slipping out of place and `-for reinforcing the strength of-the rim mil. Another object is to protect the seam between -the outer edge` of the back roll so as to prevent cutting ofhe seam fastenings b v friction while the collar in use, thus materially increasing its duizability and usefulness- In the accompanying drawings forming:

In the drawings A represents the rim roll and B the back roll of a holse collar. These rolls are provided with the usual filling material '2 such as straw and ate formed with a haine hed C in the usual manner by stitching or otherwise fastening at 3 thev pieces o1' leather 1: 5, and 6. together. The back roll of the collar is provided with a faire lining E of felt or other suitable material which liningr has an edge 11 projecting out ot' the. back roll between the outer edges of its leather walls 1. and 13. The lining E is provided with projecting points 14 along its einer edgel and the laps of the stitching 15 pass through interstic-es 16 between l these points i forming the seam between the outer edges 12 `1nd 13 of the back roll. T he points 14 protect the seam of the back roll against cutting and abrasion of the seam fastenings b v friction while the collar is in use. T he stitching 15 is preferably made by whip sew ing a raw hide. thong or other suitable cord througn the edges of the'walls of leather forniing the back roll, the inner laps of said thong pass g through tho bod)` of the lining E and the wiener laps passing through the interstices 1G between theI points 14 of the. projectingY edge of said lining.
