W/T/VESSERS ATTORNEY UNITED srarns PATENT OFFICE. A
GEORGES AUGOO, OF PARIS, FRANCE.
METALLIC WEB OR FABRIC.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 8, 1908.
Application filed March 26,. 1908. Serial No. 423,422.
T all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGES Auooo, citizen of the French Republic, residing at Paris, France, have invented certain new and use- 5.ful Improvements in Metallic I Vebs or Fabrics, of whichthe following is a specification. The present invention relates'to a metallic web or fab '10 for the manufacture of purses,
bags, bracelets, collars and similar articles'of a more or less ornamental-nature.
In its simplest form the invention includes a plurality of rings or annular members interconnected by a central connecting member.
Several forms of the invention are illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of a fragment of metallic webbing constructed according to my invention; Fig. 2 is a similar view of a connecting member; Fig. 3 is an elevational view of a purse embodying my invention. Fig. 4 is a similar view of a chat elaine; and Figs. 5 to 8v are schematic views illustrative of various forms which the invention may take.
In constructing my improved web I elnploy a plurality of rings 0 each of which may have secured thereto as by radial arms (1 a central preferably, inset portion or stud a which is preferably provided with a setting I) in its head for the reception of precious or semi precious stones.
The rings abovedescribed may beconnected by the connecting member to be hereinafter described in groups of two, three, four or such other number as may be desired, and stones of different kinds may be placed in the settings to attain the required ornamental effect. I
The connecting-member which I employ is best seen in Fig. 2, wherein f designates a central shank, preferably having a head 6 which may be provided with a setting; it
wlferein stones maybe set. The shan carries a plurality of cars g which are designed to pass through the rings 0 thus interconnecting any desired number of the latter,
.the number of rings in each group being dependent upon the number of cars of its connecting member.
While in Fig. 2 the central connecting member is shown as having four ears g,'it will be noted upon reference to Fig. 5 that it is feasible to provide the member with two such ears, or as shown in Fig. 6 three ears 9 may be used, the number of ears of each connecting member being optional.
web or fabric for the purposes specified, comprising a plurality of rings connected in groups, each ring having a central inset portion provided with a setting for the reception of ornamental stones, and each group of rings being centrally connected by a member comprisin a stud f having a head e and a setting it t erein, and the rings of said groups being connected in pairs by links i, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have aflixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
. GEORGES .AUCOC.
