citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Album, of which the following is a-full, clear, and exact description. I

This invention has reference to im rovements in albums generally, and to t e envelops which are inclosed by the cover thereof and form the inside or intermediate portion of the album.

The object of the invention is to provide a device of this nature suitable for inclosing photographic films and. such similar articles, whereby the same will be protected from the dust and against injury in handling, transport, etc.

The invention further contemplates the construction of two envelops from a single blank of sheet material, as apcr; and the provision of a cover for the allium, also made of a single piece.

Reference is to be had to the accompany ing drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

In the construction of a back for my improved album, I employ a blank of paper, cardboard, or any suitable sheet matcria as shown in Fig. 3, which is folded transversely upon itself at opposite ends to produce the flaps l0 and 11, and also likewise folded substantially-centrally of these flaps to produce the backsl2 and 13, the back 12 being provided with a transvcrsely-extemling slit 14. The flap 10 is preferably of tapering form, and the flap 11 is provided with a tongue 15 adapted to be Missed-within the slit 14 when the album is c osed, as illustrated in Fig. 2, thereby retaining the album in closed position.

venicnt-ly inserted and withdrawn from the slit 14, a tab 16 is cut from the flap 11. and is bent outwardly from the body thereof to ex tend in a reverse direction from the tongue 15. as best shown in Fig. 2.

The intermediate portion of the album inclosed by the cover is composed of one or more pairs of novel envclops 17 for containing films or othcrlike articles, each air being made from a single blank of flexible sheet material, as paper, and 'of rectangular form, as shown in Fig. 4. In the construction of a pair of envelope from this blank, the latter is first folded transvelscly at the opposite sides of its center on the

18, 18; these lines being located such a distance from the ends of th eblank that the said ends will overlap and may be pasteiLor otherwise soeur'ed together, as represented in Fig. 5. Any desired number of the envclops, either with or without the end llaps or a combination of the two, preferably the lat ter, may be placed between the backs l2 and 13 of the cover in the production of the complete album, the pairs of envelops being assembled by placing one within the fold of the other and securing the Whole to the cover by massing an elastic band 22 almu't the line of folding, as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2. It is apparent that the album is of sim le construction and may be made in ot 161 shapes than that shown; also, the envelope may be secured to the cover by other means than the elastic band, and such changes 10 of the made in the general construction without (10- parting from the nature of my invention as defined in the claims annexed.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. A device of the character described comprising a, receptacle, closed at the side edges and open at the opposite ends, folded transversely upon itself to provide two envelops, and a cover for the envelops having'a flap atone end adapted to be passed into the adjacent envelop, and a, flap at the opposite u sheet material closed at' opposite edges and with-the opening therebetween passing continuously therethrough, and folded trensversely upon itself ata point intermediate -'its length to provide two envelops, the tolding line separating the envelops being of substantially the same relative. strength as the remainder of the material of which the envelops'are composed. c

3. In a device of the character described, a
