' Application filed .Tune 25, 1913. Serial No. 775,674.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WALTER E. CLAUssEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hartford., in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drinking-Cup Packets, of which the following is a specification.
This" invention relates to drinking cup packets, the object of the invention being to provide an article of this character which can be inexpensively made and by which one or more cups for individual use can be removed from time to time or as occasion requires.
In the drawings accompanying and forming part of the present specification I have represented in detail one of the several forms of embodiment of the invention, which to enable those skilled in the art to practice the same will be set forth fully in the following description, the .novelty of the invention being set forth in the claims succeeding said description. I do not restrict myself to such disclosure, however, as I may depart therefrom in several respects within the scope of the invention defined by said claim. l
Referring to said drawings: Figure l is a perspective view of the packet opened, and, Fig. 2 is a like view of the same closed.
Like characters refer to like parts in both figures of the drawings.
The device comprises a container and a cup structure inclosable thereby, preferably connected therewith, and comprising one orI more cups. The container may be of any suitable character as may the cup structure but for the former an envelop of cardboard or other suitable material answers quite satisfactorily. The cup structure comprises preferably a series of cups connected in any suitable manner, for example in alternation to fold flat-wise together and to be inclosed by the envelop or equivalent part, the terminal cup being usually connected in some suitable manner with the envelop or analogous device.
With the foregoing general description it is now `desirable to refer more in detail to what isillustrated by said drawings. An
envelop denoted in a general way is shown at -2 and comprises the body 3, the end flaps 4 and 5 and the side flaps 6 and 7, onev of the side flaps such as 6 having a slit as 8 to receive the tongue or tab 9 on the companion Hap when the envelop is closed so as to seal the cups within said envelop and thereby make the packet sanitary and dust and germ proof.
The envelop structure comprises a series of connected cups as l0, and these may be made in the fashion shown in my copending application Serial No. 775,673 filed June 25, 1913. The cups are connected to each.
other along alternate sides and where they are united there may be provided score lines as 11 to facilitate the separation of the cups from each other. The inner terminal cup has along one edge the strip 12 which can be pasted or otherwise connected to the inside face of the body 3 of the envelop, along one side edge thereof. In Fig.- 1 the envelo 2 is shown as wide open and the connect cups 10 as drawn or pulled out, by reason ofwhicli it becomes an easy matter to separate the first cup from the second and so on until the last cup is detached from the strip 12. After the envelop has been opened to remove one or more cups, tho e remaining are folded flatwise on each other when the flaps l and 5 are closed on the outermost cup at which time the-flap 6 is brought down and the tongue or tab 9 passed through the slot 8, the folded or collapsed condition being illustrated in Fig.2.
What I claim is:
A drinking cup packet comprising a cup structure involving a. series of cups connected in alternation with each other and an envelop to the body of which the cup structure is connected, the envelop having flaps adapted when closed with the body to completely inclose. the cup structure, the cup structure being foldable flatwise within the closed envelop.
Intestimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WVALTER E. CLAUSSEN. Witnesses: IJ. MWL,
HEATH SUT ERLAND.
