Be it known that I, O'rro F. JAEGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fond du Lac, in the county of Fond du Lac, State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stamp-Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. a

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in stamp holders, and it has particular reference to a device of this type embodying the characteristics of a paper weight, and a pin tray and including a stamp magazine and a moistening receptacle.

The invention aims as a primary object to provide a novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts, the details of which will appear in the course of the following description, in which reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, like characters of reference designating similar parts throughout the several views, wherein:

Figure 1 is a plan view of a stamp holder constructed in accordance with the present invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation-thereof. Fig. 3 is a central longitudinal section thereof. Fig. 4 is a front elevation thereof. Fig. 5 is a transverse section on the line 55 of Fig. 2. Fig. 6 is a detailed plan view of a displaceable wall. Fig. 7 is a side elevation of a modified embodiment of the invention, parts being shown in section.

The stamp holder embodied in the present invention comprises a cylindrical portion 1 having a wall 2 at one side thereof, which is constructed with a forwardly projecting shelf 3, the latter being formed with an overhanging flange 4 extending to the front edges thereof and affording a recess 5. The portion 1 is constructed at each side thereof with trays 6 for pins and other articles. Projecting horizontally from the portion 1, are spring catches 7, which are formed for engagement through openings 8, provided in a displaceable wall 9, the latter being illustrated more particularly in Fig. 6. The wall 9 includes a disk shaped portion 10, constructed with an annular groove 11, and with the forwardly projecting extension 12, which affords one of .the sides of the shelf 3. The disk shaped portion 10 is likewise constructed with a central opening 13, which is adapted to surround the end of a horizontal pintle 14, carried by the side wall 2 of the portion 1. Loosely mounted upon the pintle 14 is a sleeve 15, which affords a reel for a roll of stamps, which are fed through a transverse opening 16, rovided in the portion 1 adjacent the shef 3. The said shelf 3 forms the top wall of a receptacle 17, located forwardly of the portion 1 and constructed with an opening 18, the sides 19 of which are inclined forwardly and downwardly. The receptacle 17 is designed to hold waterand a moistening sponge 20 which projects through the opening 18.

In use, the stamps are fed manually from the reel 15, and are successively detached after being passed over the sponge 20. In this action, the walls 19 serve to guide the stamps downwardly and the front wall of the shelf 3, presents its edge to the line of perforations between the stamps as a cutter.

In the modified embodiment of the invention illustrated in Fig. 7, the body portion designated by the numeral 1 is of rectangular cross section and is designed as a magazine for detached stamps. With this object in view, a follower 21 is disposed within said body portion and is normally pressed upwardly by a spring 22. The body portion 1 is constructed with an overhanging top wall 23, which is spaced away'from the front edge of said body portion, as at 24, whereby the stamps may be successively withdrawn as they are fed by the follower 21. In this embodiment of the invention, the. shelf 3 is omitted, but the water receptacle constructed as previously described is retained.

A stamp holder constructed in accordance with the present invention, is simple, inexpensive to manufacture and practical and eflicient in use.

From the foregoing description it will be seen that simple and efficient means are provided for accomplishing the objects of the invention, but while the elements herein shown and described are well adapted to serve the functions set forth, it is obvious that various minor changes may be made in the proportions, shape and arrangement of the several parts, without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as de fined in the appended claims.

What is claimed is:

1. A stamp holder comprising a body portion having the base and side walls of the body continued to form a receptacle, a per* forated inclined wall for the receptacle, an

absorbent projecting through the perforation in the wall, and a stamp holding means within the body and having a dischare 5 opening above the perforated inclined w'a 2. A stamp holder comprising a body forming front and rear independent chambers, the front chamber having an inclined perforated wall terminating at one extremity 10 in a top forming a shelf and at the opposite extremity in a straight vertical front wall, the rear chamber having a discharge passageabove the shelf, and an absorbent means projecting through the perforation in the in- 15 clined wall.

3. A stamp holder comprising a body forming separated front and rear chambers, the front ch'almber'having an inclined perforated face, the rear chamber having a delivery opening above the inclined perforated 2C face, a stamp feeding means within the rear chamber, and. an absorbent material pro jectingf through the perforation in the inace.
