DISPENSING DEVICE.. I
Application filed March 11;- 1925. Serial No. 14,793.
The invention relates ''to' dispensing devices.
The object ofthe invention is to provide a simple, effective" and economically made dispensing device in which a refillable or replaceable tube or material container is.
releasably secured in a dispensing position upon a holder of sheet metal. The invention further consists in the everal features hereinafter set forth and more particularly defined by claims at the" conclusion hereof. V p p In the drawings Fig. 1 is a front elevation view of a device embodying the inven tion;
Fig. 2 is a sectional view through the holder taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1, with the holder attached and shown partly in section;
Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view of the holder taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
In the drawings the numeral 4 designates the refillable or replaceable container, which is preferably of tubular form, with the inaterial, which in the present instance is soap in tablet form, stacked therein and covered at its ends by disks 5, one of which is shown. These disks 5 are secured to the sides of the container by sealing material which may be readily broken so that by pressure on the upper disk the lower disk may be pushed out and the bottom end of the container thus opened.
The holder comprises a sheet metal plate 6 having a flanged edge 7 to give it strength and rigidity, and provided with means for clamping the container to it in a dispensing position. This means consists of a tongue 8 struck or punched outwardly from the face of the plate and a tongue 9 also struck or punched outwardly from said plate, said tongues being so spaced apart that the bottom and top parts of the siding of the container will be releasably held by said tongues in clamped position against the front side of the plate. That portion of the front side of the container between the tongues 8 and 9 which is engaged by the container is preferably curved inwardly so as to strengthen the medial portion of the plate and at the same time form a recess 6 for the cylindrical container to firmly hold it in position.
Slots 10 and 11 are provided adjacent the tongues 8 and 9, respectively, to permit of movement ofth'e container to itsdetachc'd position,and the bottom 11 of the slot 11 adjacent the tongue 9 forms a stop tolimit the lower position of the container.
.VVith this construction, when the lower end of the container is uncovered the container is moved endwise'so that its upper end .ismoved under the tongue 8 and through the Slot lO-until the lowerend is alined with the u'pper'end of the/tongue 9, and then the container is moved down until the lower end is moved under the tongue 9' and engages the bottom-Wot the slot adjacent said tongue 9 so that the parts are in the position as shown in the drawings, the tongue 8 being longer than the tongue 9 to allow of the end- -wise movement of the container during its attachment to the holder.
A support 12 below the bottom of the container is in the form of a tongue punched outwardly from the plate, and its distance is such from the lower end of the container, when in assembled position, that only one of the articles can be removed at a time from the space between said lower end and said support. It will be further noted that the article, such as the soap tablet A, may be readily grasped by the user and pulled out from the lower end of the stack, and that as soon as one of the tablets is removed the remainder will feed down by gravity and thus bring another tablet into a dispensing position.
The siding forming the container is preferably of fibre or paper tubing that may be thrown away when the articles have been removed, but it may also be of sheet metal to take reloads of the articles to be dispensed.
I desire it to be understood that this invention is not to be limited to any particular arrangement or construction of parts except in so far as such limitations are in cluded in the claims.
What I claim as my invention is:
1. In a dispensing device, the combination of a sheet metal plate having struck up tongues arranged in spaced relation and a struck up support adjacent the lower of said tongues, a tubular container having its ends engageable with said tongues and clamped thereby against the plate and secured thereto by endwise sliding movement in opposite directions, the lower end of the container being so positioned relative to said support as to allow only one of the articles,
to be dispensed from the container, to be in a position for removal.
2. In a dispensing device, the combination of a sheet metal plate having tongues arranged in spaced relation, a cyllndrically curved recessed portion between said tongues, a cylindrical container slidable endwise to attached position on the plate with its ends engaged by said tongues and its siding clamped thereby against said recessed portion, and a projection on said plate spaced from the lower end of the container to support the article to be dispensed and permit its removal from below the lower end of the container.
3. In a dispensing device, the combination of a sheet metal plate having struck up tongues arranged in spaced relation, a struck up support adjacent the lower of said tongues, a cylindrically curved recessed portion between said tongues, and a cylindrical container slidable endwise to attached position on the plate with its ends engaged by said tongues and its siding clamped thereby against said recessed portion, said support being spaced from the lower end of the container at a distance permitting of the removal of only one article'at a time from beneath the lower end of the container.
4. In a dispensing device, the combination of a sheet-metal plate having struck-up tongues arranged in spaced relation, a stop portion at the lower end of the lower tongue and a struck-up support adjacent the lower tongue, a tubular container having its ends engageable with said tongues and clamped thereby against the plate and secured thereto by endwise sliding movement in opposite directions, the lower end of the container engaging said stop and spaced from said support so as to allow only one of the articles, to be dispensed from the container, to be in a position for removal.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature.
lVILLIAM A. SEIDEMANN.
