`sind quickly repaired.
My invention 'reletes to improvements in shipping ceses, and more part iculnrly to such ceses es use for shipping bottled beer, milk and like subst-ences t 1e bottles when empty being returned to the shipper in the ense. And its object is to provide a caso that may be easily elenned; thnt is strong and durable, yet light in weight; that may1 be constructed et a small expense; sind that may be easily T heso results I obtuin by the structure described in the following specification and illustra ted in the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure Lshows e. perspective view of my improved shipping case with the cover opened to showv the division bars nud my improved menns for holding them; Fig. 2. o, pers active View ot the skeleton or metal frame o the cese; Fig. 3. one of the corner plates detechod, .'ith one ol" the stron cover hinges attached th to; Fig. s. o. si e elevation of one of the di .-on nieto holders; and Fig. 5. a front elevation or the seme.
Like numerals rel-'er to like parts in all the TBS.
The skeleton or reme of the case isconstructed from a. T-bar l, which is bent into a rectangular form with rounded corners und having gne member extending downward, to which the sides nrc secured, and n horizontal member projecting inward to form. n ledge on which the cover is supported with its edge surrounded by the upper member of said bur when closed. An angle bnr 2, bent into rectangular form with rounded corners with one leg of its angles projecting horizontnlly inward forms the bottom of the frame. Metal corner pistes 3 curved to form rounded corners to fit the bers are attached to the bars 1 and Z to hold and space them' apart. Strengthening strips 4 and 5 are secured to the inwardly turned horizontal flange of the bar 2 whichvbeing crossed at their center strengthen the bottom rectangle and serve t0 Support the bottom panel. Bars 6 are the side-sof the cese. 'the panels 8 terminate, short of one :mother et thc corner plates i; und that they m com- Veneer panels S preferably mode of wood T bars 2 und 1 forming complete closures for lt will be seen that binntion with the corner plates 3 form thc sides of the euse. .l bottom panel :dso of wood rests upon and is secured to the in- Vwnrdly projectingr ilangc of the angie bnr 2, und is contrnllv supported bythe cro bnrs zt 'nud 5 und n cover pnnel 7 is secured to the hinged hairs 6. These panels are secured in pince by menus oi rivets or screws as dcsired.
To prevent the inclosed bottles from contacting' each other. I use division plates 9 nrrnnged to cross at right. angles in :my convenient manner and forming separate compartments for the bottles und also held in place. :it their ends and spaced n-pnrt from the bottom of the onse by the. improved holders l0. These holders are iol-med from sheet mctnl in the form of channel bars, und ure'provided with u stop 11, formed by folding the extended sides into :1 rect-ongle :it this point., the bottom edges of the division plutcs 9 engage this shoulder and hold snid bars :my predetermined dist-une from the bottom of the ense und removable pins 14 detnchnbly retain the plates in phicc. The division plates being thus held from engagement. with the bottom of the esse, any substances that mnv accumulate the ense may be ens-ily collected zit one corner of the case und removed without removing the division plntcs. A lock 12 of any convenient construction is provided to hold the cover of the unse closed, and muy bo ndspted to be scad-ed when the shipments of full bottles nre :mide- .i label holder 13 is also providcd'for holding the label bearing the address of the consigncc.
By 'my improved construction, I am cnnbled to provide s ense thnt is light in weight, stronggr and durable, nent in ep enfance, cheap to construct, and that may e easily cleaned and repaired if necessary.
that I claim is: r
l. In a case or' the class described, a metal frame consisting of s T-bar bent into rectangular shape and having one of its legs proecting horizon* xily inward, an angle bnr
