The case shown is intended to Be it known that I, JOHN BURNS, a citizen the parts shall not get out of place. this in two-compartment egg-carriers by the use of a recessed base, which serves the purpose of holding the partition and straw-board compartments when the device is in a knock? down form, and to support the sides and ends, and also to form the lower portions of the two egg-compartments where the device is in the form for shipment. The partition is removable, whereby the straw-board partitions when shut together, and thereby lengthened, have sufficient room, and when the device is used for shipment the partition extends from the-bottom of the base to the tops of the sides, and consequently with the other parts forms two egg-compartments. The main ends are hinged to the base so as to fold in 5 but the main sides are removable therefrom and are held to the ends by elbow catches and tongues and grooves. The cover is fitted on the ends by tongues and grooves, and is held in place by the same catches which hold the device together in a knockdown shape. By means of this construction the partition and straw-board egg-compartments, being in the recess, are held safely there by the ends, which fold iiat on theV top of the recessed part. The sides then are placed on the ends, and the cover on the sides, after which the hasps are fastened to the sta- I attain the ends D. These tongues and grooves are not new in this case, but are anecessary part of the construction. The ends D are also pro- ,vided with tongues o on their top ends to engage grooves d, formed in the under sides of the cover A. rlhe main boards D, C, and A to the ends, sides, and cover should be about three-eighths inch thick, and the cleats R S T about the same thickness, and firmly secured together by wrought nails clinched, and, if glue be used, the strength will be largely increased at nominal cost.
