The said paper-feed-roller is mounted on a bifurcated arm K of a shaft K provided with a sprocket wheel or equivalent gear Q connected by an graduated disk It is fast on shaft K between the two parallel plates of arm K; and is engaged peripherally which passes through the bent outer end of said arm, to lock the said arm in any desired position of pivotal adjustment, thereby regulating the position of the paper feed roller K with regard to the point or line of the paper which it will impress. As the shaft K and the printing cylinder turn equally and simul taneously, it follows that such adjustment of feed roll and of the part of the sheet at which it begins to operate must correspondingly adjust the printing, shifting the lines of print forward or backward:

support, a lever I pivoted near its middle thereon and having its forward end arranged to bear against the inclined face V of the upper art of a spring attached to frame A at its ower end, said spring being adjusted in position by .a screw V entering a screwthreaded socket V of said frame. On raising the platen roller into operative position and actuating one end of said lever the forward end'of the latter will ride down the inclined end of said spring and catch below the said incline, the said lever being then-in line with its pivot and the said up or end of the spring and holding the said p aten roller as thus placed.
The cylinder B is driven by convenient gearing, for example a large gear wheel WV which meshes with.a smaller wheel W on a shaft WW operated in any'convenient way. This gear wheel may be engaged at will by a locking stud W that passes inward through a part of the frame A. In this way the cylinder may be conveniently locked at any time.
X designates a guide frame bearing for the pile of paper sheets as shown in my Patent #825186, dated July 3d, 1906, and movable therewith up and down on studs X on the tilting feed table. The latter also bears ad-. justable guide plates X for the sides of the paper.- This table rests on a box Y, which affords means of attachment for some of the -minor parts hereinafter referred to and may extra parts and convenient also contain loose tools.

IAs the ribbon does not pass around the cylinder, I am enabled to have free and convenient access to the periphery'of the latter at all points not covered by said ribbon and to the type and rods on said cylinder. As the cylinder may easily be turned to present any part of it up ermost, I have access in this Way to all of t ie type, and the correction of any error is made easy.

Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In combination with a printing cylinder its .platen roller, a pair of spring rollers; a printing ribbon advanced by the grip of said roller and the type of said cylinder and having its ends wound on said spring rollers, in order that said ribbon may be automatically withdrawn to about its first position after said grip ceases.
2. In combination With a printing roller and its platen roller, a ribbon passing between them, and removable spring rollers, to which the ends areattached, the latter ermitting the ribbon to be wound thereon f dr shiftin it from one to the other more or less and thereby presentin a new part of the ribbon for use substantially as set forth.
3. In combination with the platen roller of la printing machine, a pair of sup orting s on which the journals of said r0 ler are mounted, a fixed part to which said links are ivoted at their lower ends, a lever distinct rom said links but engaging one of said jour-" nals to lift said roller, :1. fixed fulcrum for said lever, a spring having an inclined face for frictional engagement with the end' of-said lever to hold said roller in its raised position and means for adjusting the tension of said spring as set fort -In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of twosubscribing witnesses.
