To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PAALGO P. GIBBS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gordon, in the county of Palo Pinto and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Pneumatic Knee-Pad, of which the following is a specification. I
The invention relates to a pneumatic knee ad for cotton pickers.
The object of the present invention is to improve the construction of knee pads, and to provide a simple, inexpensive and efficient pneumatic knee pad, adapted to be readily adjusted to the leg of the wearer, and capable of affording a soft cushion for the knee and of enabling the leg of the wearer to bend in kneeling without straining or tearing the trousers.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction and novel combination of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended; it being understood that various changes in the form, proportion, size and minor details of construction, within the scope of the claims, may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing an of the advantages of the invention.
n the drawing :-Figure 1 is a side elevation of a pneumatic knee pad, constructed in accordance with this invention and shown applied to a leg. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the knee pad. Fig. 3 is a reverse plan view.

The pneumatic knee pad is an inflatable bag 1 of rubber, able material, arranged comti osed of a stifi front 3 and a flexible back 4. he casing is rectangular, the front and back being stitched together at the top and side edges, while the lower edges are detachably secured together by lacing. a cord 5, or other suitable flexible connection through perforations or eyelets. This will permit the inflatable bag to be removed when. desired. The inflatable bag is provided with an exteriorly arranged valve 6 of the ordinary construction, located at the bottom of the pad, as clearly illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3 of the drawing, so as not to catch on limbs or leaves. The straps 8, however, may be constructed of non-elastic material, if desired.
The pad is provided at the bottom with a transversely disposed attaching band 11, designed to be passed around the leg1 of the wearer below the knee and adapte to have its free end secured to the opposite upper corner of the pad by means of a buckle 12', or other suitable fasteningdevice. he strap or band, which is adapted to prevent the ad from floppingl up, need not be buck ed tight to keep t e pad in place, and will not cram the wearer. A pneumatic knee pad including a casing composed of a flexible back, and a stiff front of concavo-convex form, said back and said front bein rigidly secured together at three sides or e ges, a lacing cord connecting the said parts of the remaming side or edge, an inflatable bag arranged within the space between the front and back, a transversely disposed strap or band connected with the caslng and arranged to encircle the leg of the wearer below the knee, and hanger straps connected with the top of the casing at opposite sides thereof and having means for permitting a lateral movement of the said casing.
