IMPROVEMENT `IN SIZE-MARKS FOR HATS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 89,108, dated April 20, 1869.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIs G.`WOEHN1NG, of the city and State of New York, have invented and made a certain new and useful Improvement in Hatters7 Size-Marks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the said invention, reference being had to the annexed drawing, making part of this specification, wherein- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the face of the said size-mark, and Fig. 2 is a similar view of the same at the rear.

The size-marks for hats have usually been made of paper, with the number printed thereon, and this has been gummed to the inside of the hat. It is imsightly, and frequentlyT becomes detached. Metal numbers have also been employed; but they are costly and conspicuous, and generally indistinct.
The nature of my said invention consists in a metal frame having points that turn down to secure a paper or printed number into the metal ame, and also penetrating-points, by means of whichthe frame and size-number can be attached to the sweat or lining` of the hat.
My article is neat and ornamental, it makes a permanent attachment of the size-number to the hat or cap, and one metal frame answers for any size-number, and thereby the manufacture and use are facilitated.

What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The hatters size-mark, formed of a metal frame, with points to secure the number in the frame, and points to attach the frame to the hat, as set forth.
