Description

PATENTED JUNE 9, 1908.
J. Q. 'A. REMINE.
TRUSS.
APPLICATION FILED JAN. 15. 1908.
THE NORRIS psrsas ca., \nusmnqruzv, n. c.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN Q. A. REMINE, OF GREENEVILLE, TENNESSEE.
TRUSS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN Q. A. REMINE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Greeneville, in the county of Greene and State of Tennessee, have invented a new and useful Truss, of which the following is a specifica tion.
This invention relates generally to trusses, and more particularly to a novel form of femoral strap to be used in connection therewith.
The object of the invention is to increase the elasticity of such an attachment and to reduce friction to a minimum, thus to render it more comfortable to Wear, to simplify its construction, thus to reduce the cost of its manufacture, and to adapt it for ready detachment from the waistband or belt of a truss for purposes of cleansing, thus to secure and maintain thorough sanitation.
With the above and other objects in view, as will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction and combination of parts of a femoral strap for trusses, as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts, Figure 1 is a view in perspective of the band or belt of a truss, exhibiting the femoral bands of the present invention applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a View in longitudinal section of one of the straps.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates the band or belt of a truss of any preferred character, and as the improvements hereinafter described are capable of application to a truss band having associated with it any form of pad, the latter element is omitted.

Serial No 411,014.
The invention resides in a novel form of femoral strap, the object of which is to secure the greatest ease in use, and further to insure the proper retention of the belt or band, and The strap comprises an elastic sleeve or sheath 2 constructed of a length of rubber tubing and a core 3 of rubber preferably covered with a fabric 4. As clearly shown in Fig. 2, the core 3 is of less diameter than the sleeve, so that the former may be stretched independently of the latter, thereby preventing rubbing and consequently discomfort in use.
Any preferred means may be employed for assembling the strap with the band, that herein shown consisting of lengths of tape or braid 5 that are secured in any stable manner to the ends of the core, and are adapted to be tied around the band, as clearly shown in Fig. 1. By having the sleeve disconnected from the core, the former may be removed or to apply a new core for one that has lost its elasticity.
The improvements herein defined are simple in character, will be found of the highest efficiency in use, will be cheap to manufacture, and will secure all the objects sought in a practical and feasible manner.
I claim A femoral strap con'iprising an elastic core provided with means forattachment to the band or belt of a truss, and an elastic sleeve slidably mounted on the core.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
JOHN A. REMINE.
