To all whom it 'may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE W. G AINEs, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Omaha, in the county oi Douglas and State of Nebraska, have invented new and useful Improvements in Soap-Anchors, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to soap anchors designed for the purpose of holding a piece of toilet soap in position for use upon a washstand or in other position for use, and one of the principal objects of the same is to provide a coiled wire anchor ada ted t6 be embedded in a cake of soap at the time it is molded, and to provide a projecting loop to be connected to a chain or other suitable flexible attachment to be connected to the washstand.

Another object of the invention is to. provide a coiled wire anchor to be embedded in a piece oi toilet soap, said anchor having its terminal ends secured together within the coils so that they will not come in contact with the hands of the user of the soap when the cake has been worn down beyond the coils.

Still another object oit' the invention is to provide a simple anchoring device for cakes of toilet soap to prevent their surreptitious removal from a lavatory, said device comprisinfT a simple anchor made from a single strand of wire, and comprising a central bar encircled by spiral coils, the ends of the central bar coming together inside the coils to obviate projecting portions which might injure the hands of the user of the soap.

These and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

Referrinfy to the drawing for a more particular description of my invention, the numeral 1 designates a washstand of any suitable construction provided preferably with a ring 2 in which an ordinaryv padlock 3 is connected. Secured to the bail of the padlock is a chain 4, said chain being connected at its other end, to my anchor embedded in a cake of soap.

The anchor is made from a single strand of wire of the proper gage, said strand being bent to form the attaching loop 5, one portion of the strand being twisted, as at 6, around the central bar 7, and continued in the form of coils 8 of the oval contour, as

shown in Fig. 3, said coils terminating in al loop 9 at the opposite end of the anchor from the loop 5, and extended from thence centrally back between the coils, the two ends of the wire strand terminating at 10 in a position substantially central to the length of the anchor.

The anchor is embedded within a cake of soap of any suitable shape and required size, the base 1l oi the loop 5 serving as a cross bar to assist in holding the anchor within the soap until it has been entirely used,even to the portion which is embedded between the coils of the anchor.

From the foregoing it will be obvious that my soap'y anchor is oi sim le construction, is

provided* with a centra longitudinal barl which prevents the movement of the coils of the anchor, and which also rovides means for connecting the ends of t e wire strand within the coils so as to protect the hands of the user.

Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:

1. A soap anchor comprising a series of coils, an attaching loo at one end thereof, and a central longitu inal bar formin the terminal ends of the wire strand of whic the anchor is composed.

2. A soap anchor made from a single strand of wire and comprising an attaching loop, aA

series of coils, and a central longitudinal bar extending inside the coils, said bar being composed of the two terminal ends of the wire strand.

3.
