hwamfoz JOHN P. OCONNOR, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
LUNAR-CAUSTIC HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented March 10, 1908.
Application filed August 16, 1907. Serial No. 388,770.
To all whom it may. concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN P. OCoNNoR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lunar-Caustic Holders, of which the following is a' specification.
' This invention is an article of manufacture embodying a new manner of holding a peplcil estructive or injurious action. It is particularly used in connection with lunar caustic sticks, the present method ofv handling or j holding which is unsatisfactory and more or less dan erous, requiring in most instances a special orm of holder into which the stick must be placed, with more or less difliculty,
By means of the present invention the stick can be easily secured to a handle and firmly held therein, the handle consisting of or including a stick of sealing .wax to the end of which the caustic is attached by the simple expedient of melting the wax and applying the same to the caustic in that condition and then allowing the wax to harden, forming a com lete and perfect holder for the caustic, whic will be convenient for use; and when the caustic is entirely used the same stick of sealing wax may be applied to new pieces of "stick of sealing wax, and 7 the pencil of lunar caustic or other material which it may be necessary or desirable to hold out of contact with the hand. As before stated, the wax is a plied to the caustic by melting the end of tl fe former and allowing it to harden upon the end of the pencil. This unites the parts and produces the article described.
I claim:
1. A pencil of caustic or similar corrosive substance provided with a handle of plastic material proof against the action of said substance, applied thereto in soft condition and allowed to harden thereon. a
2. A caustic pencil provided with a handle of sealing wax stuck thereto.
JOHN P. OCONNOR.
VVit-nesses:
