Description

- view of my improved safe.
WILLIAM F. SMITH, OF COSHOCTON, OHIO.
MATCH-SAFE Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 28, 1908.
Application filed June 18 1906. Serial No. 322.274.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM F. SMITH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ooshocton, in the county of Coshocton and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in a Match-Safe, of which the following is a specication.
This invention relates to match safes and more particularly to match safes adapted to be used for advertising purposes, the object being to provide a safe so constructed that it can be stamped out of a single sheet of metal with the advertising matter printed or stamped thereon at one operation.
Another object of my invention is t'o provide a match safe which is very simple and cheap in construction and one which can be shaped in a very small space.
This invention consists of the novel features of construction hereinafter fully described and pointed out in claims.
In the drawings forming a part of the specificationz-Figure il' is a front perspective Fig. 2 is a rear perspective view of the safe. Fig. 3 is avertical Sectional view of the safe partly broken away. Fig. i is a top plan view of a part of the safe. Fig. 5 is a detail perspective view of the safe. Fig. 6 is a plan view of the blank from which the safe is formed.
In the drawings A indicates a metal plate formed of any suitable material forming the back of my improved safe, having a reduced ortion A, which is bent semi-cylindrical to form the bottom of the safe. The end A2 of the reduced portion is bent downwardly to form a front uponwhich advertising matter can be readily stamped or printed. Flaps A3 project out from each side of the end A2 adapted to be bent backwardlyto form side pieces which are provided with tongues A4 which are bent around the back so as to Securely hold the sides in place. The sides are provided with flaps A5 which are bent downwardly upon themselves between which the tongues Aj of the back are adapted to fit. An opening is formed in the back so that the safe can be readily hung up when desired.
From the foregoing description it will be readily seen that I have provided a very novel match safe with iiat plain surface upon which advertising matter can be readily placed and one which can be readily placed into a letter in the blank form.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A match safe comprising a back, a semicylindrical bottom, a front projecting downwardly from the upper edge of the bottom below the same, ends projecting below the bottom and provided with sockets at their upper edges, tongues projecting from the back and entering said sockets and tongues formed on the ends and engaging the back substantially as described.
