UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FREDERICK ROW PARKS, OF OSWEGO, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO WILLIAM P. KING, OF SYRACUSE, NEW YORK.
FEEDING-TROUGH.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 16, 1914.
Application led January 29, 1914. Serial No. 815,256.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FREDERICK R. PARKS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oswego, in the county of Oswego and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Feeding-Troughs; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which forni a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in dry mesh troughs and consists of a simple and efficient device of this nature having various details of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying draw* ings and then specifically defined in the appended claims.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a perspective view of a trough made in accordance with my invention showing the device opened for use. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the same closed, and Fig. 3 is a sectional view through the trough with its top open.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a trough which may he of any size or shape and made of suitable metal. Said trough is provided with closed back and ends and the front has its upper part B open and its lower part E closed, while the upper marginal edge of the front is curved inwardly as shown. A rod F extends across and forms the upper marginal edge of' said opening in the front. Struck up from the wall are the lugs H arranged opposite each other and in pairs. The closure is designated in the drawings by letter O and consists of a sheet of any suitable material of sufficient length to fit within the trough and one of its longitudinal edges is bent to form a flange R which is adapted to engage one or another of the series of struck up lugs.
In Fig. l of the drawings, in which the closure is shown opened so that access may be had to the trough, the closure has its flanged ends engaging the upper of the two series of lugs, while its free edge rests upon said rod.
In Fig. 2 of the drawings, the flange of the closure is shown as engaging the lower of the lugs, while its free end rests upon the lower marginal edge of the opening in the front.
that I claim to be new is A feeding trough having a closed back and ends with an open top, the front wall of the trough having an angled flange upon its upper edge and upon its ends, the end flanges adapted to engage about the ends of the trough and the longitudinal flange turned into the latter, the rear wall of the trough having inwardly extending, integral lugs, a closure, a rod extending the length of the trough over the opening in the side thereof and coperating with said longitudinal flange and lugs to support said closure.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
FREDERICK ROW PARKS.
