Serial No. 354389- This invention relates to lmprovements in the manufacture of pins such as are usedv principaliy for ornamental wear and the primary object of the invention is to provide said pin with anY integral catch piece and joint-ears that are formed heavier or made thicker than the body of the pin to strengthen the same. lIn the construction of pins from high grade or expensive material, such as solid orold, silver, heavy rolled plate stock or the 2like, the body portion may be made very light or thin and still, owing to its cupped shape form, be sufficiently 'strong and durable for all practical purposes. 'When a cud pin is consi ructed of such thin stock it has heretofore boe-n found necessary to form the joint-ears and catch piece separately and of heavier stock and to'solder the same to the body, as when'they were-made all in one piece with the body portion, they were so thin and light that they were unsubstantial and not practical, being easily broken of and the pin Idestroyed.
When it was desired to make the ears and tongue ,integral with the body in a practical manner the stock of the body had to be much Vthicker than was necessary in order to get the ears of sufficient strength to stand the strains, thus unnecessarily increasing the cost of the pin.
My improved cuff Din is constructed to obi viate the above difficulties rendering it possible and practicable to form a pin body eX- tremely thin and l-ight and at the same time provide said body with joint-ears and catch suHicient strength and stiffness to easily withstand the strains required of them.

From the foregoing it Will be readily perceived that I have produced a pin the body portion of which may be made of thin material, whereby the same may' be readily shaped, embossed, Aor otherwise Worked, thereby insuring a saving'` in the cost of manu- 'facture and at the same time presenting a neat and finished appearance. AIt Will be further observed that by thickening the metal to reinforce the joint ears and catch I avoid the expense and save the time incident to the soldering of separate joint ears and catches, or reinforcing pieces, and yet produce a durable and inex ensive pin.
Having thus describedlmy invention, What yI claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
l'. An article of manufacture comprising a pin formed of sheet metal shaped to the-desired form and provided With integral catch and joint ears which are of greater thickness than the body portion of said pin.

An article of manufacture comprising a pin formed of sheet metal shaped to .thedesired form and provided `with integral catch and joint ears which are of greater thicknes: than the body of said pin, and a fulcrum member having projections which' straddle the thickened portions of said joint ears, said projections being bent over to rest against the body portion of the pin, said ears being bent inward to retain said fulcrum member in position.
