, No. eraf/oo Speoiiicaton oi Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 3,1907.
Application filed Fehruarylli. 1907. Serial No. 357,145.
T o all whom 'it' may concern.'
Be it known that l, PETER F. VAN HALDER, citizen of the United States, residing at Sharon, in the county of Mercer and State oi Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Advertising Devices, of which the following is a specification. /e/ 4 This invention has for its object a simple and uni ue advertising device which consists of r isks centrally pivoted together and adapted to contain advertisements, photograplhs, or the like, as Well as days and Weeks of t e months oi the year', so that the device may loe used as a pocket or other calendar, and at'ft'he same time so arran ed and conf structed as to display the ar vertisement,
i photograph, or other display matter, whenever in use.
With this and other objects in view as will more fully appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain oonstructions and arrangements of the parts which l shall now specically describe and claim. v
For a full understanding of the invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in
l which; y r
f Figure 1 is a iront face view ot' my improved advertising device.; Fig. 2 is a rear view thereof; Fig. 3 is an edge view.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to inthe olloyvin description and indicated in 'all the views o? the drawings-by the same reference characters. y L
My improved advertising or display device comprises an intermediate disk l, a front disk 2, and a back dis/k 3, all of which are centrally pivoted together by means ci a pivot stud 4. It is to be particularly noted that'while all the disks are concentric, the middle or intermediate diskhl is of smaller diameterthan theoutside disks 2 and 3, and that it is provided at one point with an interal extension 5 which serves as a handle and is preferably provided with Aan a erture 6 by which the entire device may be un upon a nail or the like. By forming the Ami die disk -1 of sli 'fhtly smaller diameter than the outside dis s, it is evident that the said middle disk may 'he readily turned with respect to the'other tWo disks by rasping the margins of the two outer disks etween ones 'linger drawings,
and thumb of one hand and turning the 'middledisk by means of the handle extension 5, with the other hand, the ressure on the edges ofthe outer diss tending to bow them over slightly and spread them a art so as to permit the middle disk to have iles rotation without undue frictional lenga ement With the opposite Walls of the outer sks 2 and 3, it being of courseunderstood, as shown inthe that the two outer disks are free from connection at the edges.
The middle disk l is designed to contain or display upon one. face, the calendar months of the year arranged in circular series as indicatedat 7 and said disk may display on its other face a series of advertisements, or have a series of spaces for photo aphs or the like, blocked entf-and corres on ing to the various months of the year s own on the opposite tace. To display this advertising matter or photographs, as well as the different months, the outside disks 2l and 3 are respectively provided with coincidingopenings 9 and- 10, such openings being preferabl shape as the spaces or blocks'o dis lay matter on the op ositefaces of the mid ledisk 1. The iront dls matter on its outer ace low its opemng and similarly the back disk 3 tain an advertisement.` From the foregoing-description inconnecr tion withv the aocompanyin drawing, it will be seen that I 'have 'provi ed. avery cheap and simple advertislng or display device may alsooon'- of the same Y which may be made ofany material of differgral handle extension .and containiy d15- .play matter, and the two outerfd'plm .`lq11g of greater diameter-than 'the Intermediate disk and free from connection? withfoach. other and the intermediate disk, except with.
the pivot, one of said outer disks being ormed with a. side opening extending therei' 2 ma .display an advertising 10| j mediateldjisk beingplffqvidedfavith an intethroug'l in registry with the display matter of the intermediate disk, the said outer rdisks being susceptible to bowing by pressure ex erted on them from their' margins inwardly', wherebypiessuie applied inwardly a-t vdis,- metrieelly opposite pointsfo'f thel device will result in spijeading a art the outer disksfso as t penit the intiimediate disk to have free rotation without undue friotiona engageA ment with the opposite wells of the outer disks. 10 [n testimony whereof I eiix my signature t in presence of' two witnesses.
