To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, MORITZ MAYER, a citizen of the United States, residing at the borough of Manhattan,

' in the city, county, and State of New York, have invented an Improvement in Collapsible Display-Racks, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a display rack particularly adapted for the exhibition of goods and the display of advertisements in shop windows and other similar places, and the construction of my improved display rack is such that the same is readily collapsible and consequently in form to be packed and contained within a comparatively small space for storing or shipping purposes.

In carrying out my invention, I prefer to employ a series of shelves or horizontal members, devices intermediate of the said shelves, means for connecting each intermediate member to the shelves next adjacent thereto, means for maintaining the shelves in a spaced apart relationship and means for supporting the display rack in form like a series of steps, as will be hereinafter more particularly described.

In the drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my display rack and Fig. 2 is a transverse cross section of the same in its folded up condition.

Referring particularly to the drawing, a b represent shelves or horizontal members whose ends may be rounded or tm'ned in as scrolls as indicated at 10 and 11 respectively, for the double purpose of obtaining an ornamental effect and preventing articles of merchandise or other goods placed on the shelves from accidentally falling therefrom.

The respective ends of the pins e may be provided with eyes 17 and I also prefer to employ stay-rods f connected at one end to the eyes 17 at the ends of one of the pins e and provided at the other end with a hook 19 adapted to engage the eyes 17 in the ends of the other pin e in order that when the display rack is supported as hereinafter described, that the shelves a b and the intermediate member 0 and depending member d may be maintained in the set up relationship like a series of steps. 1 also prefer to employ a disk or ring 9 provided with a hook h and a series of chains 20 each connected at one end in the said disk 9 and at the other end to the eyes 1.7 in the ends of the pine or other similar and equally advantageous points in the structure whereby the same may be supported from a hook or other device fixed in the ceiling.

As will be apparent, the hereinbcfore described display rack may be made of any desired size and also of any desired number of shelves and intermediate connecting members. It will also be apparent that the display rack as hereinbefore described, is particularly adapted to be placed in a shop window in order that goods may be displayed on the shelf members a b and at the same time if desirable, matter of an advertising nature may be displayed on the vertically disposed members intermediate of the shelves. Furthermore, as hereinbefore stated, the display rack of my present invention is collapsible and itmay be folded together to occupy a comparatively small space for shipping, storing or other similar purposes.

I claim as my invention:

1. A collapsible display rack comprising a series of shelves, means for pivotally connecting the forward edge of a shelf with the rear edge of the next adjacent shelf, means adapted to extend between the forward edges of the said shelves and at the ends thereof to maintain the same in an open and set up relationship and means for suspend ing the display rack.

2. A collapsible display rack comprising an upper shelf, a lower shelf, a member intermediate of said shelves, a member depending from the forward edge of the lower shelf, interlocking bearings on the forward edge of the upper shelf along the edges of the lower shelf and the in termediate members and the upper edge of the said de pending member, pins passing; through the said interlocking hearings to pivotally connect the members together. stay-rods passing" between and connected with the extremities of the pins and means for supporting the rack from the extremities of the said pins.

3. A collapsible display rack comprising a series of shelves, members intermediate of the said shelves, means for pivotally connecting the shelves and intermediate members together, means extending between the corre sponding edges of the said shelves and at the ends thereof for maintaining the parts in an open and set-up relation ship and means for suspending the display rack.

4. A collapsible display rack comprising an upper shelf member and a lower shelf member, a member pivotally connected to the said shelf members, a member also piv- .otally connected to the lower shelf member and depending therefrom, means extending between and connected to the corresponding edges of the said upper and lower shelf members for maintaining the aforesaid parts in an open and set-up relationship and means for suspending the display rack.

5. A collapsible display rack comprising an upper shelf member and a lower shelf member, a member pivotally connected at the edges thereof to the adjacent edges of the said shelf members, a member also pivotally connected to the lower shelf member and depending therefrom,

stay-rods extending between and connected to the corresponding edges of the said upper and lower shelf members for maintaining the parts in an open and setup po sition, and means for suspending the display rack.
