ROVEMENT IN DITCHING-PLQWS.

To all whom 'it mamy concewl.:

Beit known that I, E. L. FOREMAN, ofRantOul, in the county of Champaign, and in the State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ditching-Plows; and dov hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters Of reference marked thereon.

The nature of my invention consists in the Inode of attaching the tongue to a-ditching-plow, which will be hereinafter fully set forth, in order to enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same.

In the annexed drawings, forming part of this speciieation- Fgurel is a plan view;

:Figure 2, a side view;

Figure 3, a plan view of the tongue; and

Figure 4, a front view of the bar in which the tongue is secured.

A represents a ditching-plow, one side of which, B, is hinged, and can be adjusted to any-sized ditch desired, by-means of the cross-bars C C, which are held together, as shown in g. l, by screws, a a, at any point.

The lever D is used to raise the adjustable side B out ofthe ditch, Whenever desired so to do.

Near the front end of the plow A, and across the same, is secured a slotted bar, D. u

The tongue E is provided, at its rear end,witl1'a ring, F, which is inserted into the slot on the bar D, and a piu, b, is passed through said bar and ring, which allows the tongue tO be moved to one side Or the other, and a screw, d, passing through the tongue E, and restf ing onta rib or bar, e, On the plow, in front of the slotted bar VD, allows the front end of thetongue to be raised Or lowered, as may be desired. v

In the front end of the tongue, the clevis H is attaohed, in any manner most convenient.

I am aware that the several devices herein specified, when taken separately, are, of themselves, not new.

What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, as an improvement upon my patent for a ditchingplow, bearing date April 25, 1868, is-

The combination ofthe parts A B, bars O C, lever D, tongue E, with ring F, clevis H, and pin b, secured to the bars D and e, all as herein shown and described.
