Description

tlnitd wwe-1e aaaaeww THOMAS LEWIS, 0F MALDEN, MASSACHUSETTS, .team Patent 1ste. 85,744, dated Jenna/ry 12, 1869.-
-Innuzovr'n: vAGINAL mmcTroN-PIPE ron SYRINGES.
Thl Schedule referred to in these Lettersatent mdrmaking part of lama.
To all whom 'it ma/yconcefr .l v
`Be it known that- I, THOMAS LEWIS, of Malden, in the county of Middlesex, and State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improved Vaginal Inj action-Pipe to Syringes, of which the following is a full, clear,`and exact description, reference being had to the accom`" panying drawings, making partlof this specification, in which- A Figure l is a perspective View of the pipe.
Figure 2 is a sectional view of the pipe.
Figure 3, end view of the pipe, showing perforations.
This device has been suggested to me by the lack of syringes.
When using the common vaginal injection-pipes to syringes, the walls of the vagina hug so closely to the pipe as really to defeat the purposes to which the in- -jection is applied, for suicient room is not given to allow of any play to be given to the jets of fluid from the injection-pipe; Iand when the pipe is within the v.perfect action in the ordinary vaginal inj cation-pipes to vagina, the iiuid is continually escaping, without ac complishing the purpose of the injection, either in Y cleansing the vagina or otherwise.
Now, my improved vaginal inj ection-jpipe, being made `in the shape it is, distends the walls of the vagina when inserted, and, as the perforations are located, allows a free play to the jets when forced through the pipe into l the vagina, and the bulb so fills the vagina as to prevent the fluid from escapngas'fast as injected. Thus I succeed in obtaining the whole benefit which may result from a vaginal injection.
' In the drawings, which are made on an enlarged scale- A is the pipe.

of the points e d. This is to allow the bulbto disteud the walls of the-vagina, to give 'full force to the inidjets forced through the perforations.
rlhis improved pipe is adapted to the useof any kind ema-syringesvprovided an elastic bulb, operating in connection with valves placed within the metallic connections of the Syringe, and to au improvement in September `l0, 1867.
.What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
Device B, for a vaginal injectionpipe, with perforations C C, forward of line e.'d,substantial1y as and for thel purposes set forth.
Ithis specification', in the presence of-twosubscribing witnesses.
