Description

(No Model.)
J. B.. HAMILTON.
SYRINGB.
Patented Nov. 15, 1887.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JONATHAN R. HAMILTON, OF MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO LYMAN R. PALMER, OF SAME PLACE.
SYRING E.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 373,398, dated November 15, 1887.
Application {ilell June Q7, i887. Serial No. S24-2,616. (No model.)
To @ZZ whom, it may concern.'
Be it known that I, JONATHAN R. HAMIE TON, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State ot' Minnesota, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Syringes for Injecting Oerates, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to syringes for injecting cerates or other medicaments into deep cavities, especially in the treatment of ulcerations in the upper portion ofthe rectum and the lower portion of the sigmoid ieXure.
The improvements are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a side View of the improved syringe, and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional View of the same.
A in the drawings represents the barrel of the syringe, and B and O designate the piston and pistonrod, respectively.
D is the dischargetube connected to the barrel, and is relatively long and preferably somewhat iiexible.
E is a suitably-rounded head secured on the end of the tube D, and provided with a nulnber ot' orifices, e, communicating with the interior chamber, c', of the head.
The syringe may be charged by suction through the oritiees e, or its barrel maybe filled through an opening, a, in its side. A ring, a', is provided on the barrel for closing the hole a when the syringe has been charged.
The syringe may be constructed of rubber or metal, but preferably o t' rubber.
l/Vhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A syringe for injecting cerates, consisting of a barrel having a lateral oritiee for introducing cerates thereto, a sliding` ring thereon for closing the orifice, a piston and piston rod, and an elongated nozzle having a relatively large rounded head provided with perforations, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
