PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN R. LANE, on NEW YORK, N.
VA'GINAL SWYRINGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 735,276, dated August 4, 1903. 4 Application filed December 1,1902. Serial No. 133,392. (No model-l To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN R. LANE, a citizen" New York, have invented an Improved Vaginal Injector, of which the following is a specification. 4 I
Inthe use of vaginal injectors as usually constructed with a nu mber of discharge-openings some of these openings are apt to .be more obstructed than others by theparts being treated, and consequently the treating liquid will escape through. the less obstructed openings. The consequence is that some of the parts failto be treated.
The object of my invention is to construct a vaginal injector so that the treating fluid will be uniformly distributed from all the openings and all the parts thereforebe equally Well treated.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1' is a sectional view of my injector on the line 1 1, Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a sectional view on the line 2 2, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a side elevation, and Fig. 4 is an end view.
' The main body or cylinder of the injector,
preferably of hard rubber, is formed with a thickened end 2 of some length pierced with long chambers 3, opening to the interiorof the cylinder and to the outer rounded end surface 4. A piston 5 fits the cylinder and carries a number of plungers 6, eachfitting one of the chambers 3. The lengths of these plungers vary to conform to the rounded end 4 of the cylinder to produce equal capacities of the several-chambers, as will be obvious on reference to Fig. 1.
A stem or rod 7, attached to the piston 5, passes through a detachable cover-cap 8, screwed or otherwise secured to the back end of the cyliridenl. Thisrod has a stop 9 to abut against the inner side of the cap 5 and prevent the withdrawal of the plungers from their chambers 3 except upon the removal of the cap 8. The piston-rod 7 carries a handle 10 at its outer end. L
In injecting medicine into the vagina with this instrument the medicine will be forced out of each separate compartment by plushing the handled piston and plungers, thereby equally distributing the medicine to the parts to be treated. I
I claim as my invention- 1. A vaginal injector having a cylinder adapted to be inserted into the part adapted to be treated, a plurality of chambers therein, with an individual plunger in each chamber, as and for the purpose described.
2. A vaginal injector having a cylinder adapted to be inserted into the part to be treated, a plurality of chambers therein, a plunger in each chamber and a common piston-rod carrying all the plungers, substantially as described.
3. Avaginalinjector havingarounded end, and a plurality of" chambers terminating in said rounded end, with a plunger in each chamber, the plungers conforming in lengths to the rounded end toproduce equal capacities in the several chambers, substantially as described. I
4. A vaginal injector comprising a cylinder havinga thickened end pierced with elongated chambers, a plunger in each chamber, a common piston to which the plungers are attached and an operating-rod for the piston, substantially as described. I
In testimony whereof I have s igned; my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
