Patented .Lune 4, 1907.
Applicationiiled February 11,1905. Serial No. 245,205.
To mtl whom t may concern: A
Be it known that I, HARRY H. MYERS, e
citizen of' the United States, and a resident.
of Hoboken, in the county of Hudson, State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful lmprovemeiits in Memorandum- Tablets for Telephones, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvement in telephone memorandum attachments.
It provides an attachment for a telephone upon which a tablet or a roll of paper in ay he used for making memoranda, and also provides, where a roll of paper is used, means for holding the roll of paper and means 'for cutting oli the memoranda after it has been made.
In the accompanying drawings illustra-- tive of my invention, Figure 1 shows a desk telephone with my invention attached there-r to. Fig. 2'shows a bottom plan view ot' my invention. Fig. 3 shows a side view of Fig. 2
taken through the center of'the roll of paper and the center of the Writing bed. Fig. e
shows a side view of Fig. 2 from the right.-
Fig. 5 is a detail view. Fig. 6, isa detached v iew in perspective of a detail of the inveib tion.
Similar letters ci reference indicate similar parts.
1 is a vertical standard of the ordinary desk telephone to which my invention is attached. l
2 is an arm, one end of which, marked 2, is made in the Jform of a semi circle so as to partially encircle the standard 1 of the tele phone.
3 is a semi circular band made to correspond with the semi circular portion 2 of the arm 2, having at one end a point 5, which rejects through the hole 4 in the armV 2end aving at its other end a hole 6, which corre sponde to a similarhole'in the arm 2, so esto ermit a screw 7 to pass through the holes, holding the saine together,
The end of the arni 2, opposite to the semi circular portion, is provi ed with two legs 8,--8, so arranged that the screw 9 may pass between them and so that the screw head l() may be screwed down tightly to hold the l Writing bed 11, to 'which the screw 9 is fue edly secured in rigid position.
The Writing bed 11 is made oi metal 01j i other suitable materia-l and has attached to it at its upper portion a single piece of spring Wire 1G', one end of which projects into the core of the roll of paper 15 upon which meinoranda is to be made, and then is arranged so as to form a spring, as shown in F ig. 3, un derneu th the Writing bed for giving a flexible movement to the roll of paper and to act as a tension for holding the paper smoothly on the Writing bed, and is then secured to the lied plate 11 at the point marked 12 in Fig. 3, and then passes up over the hed plate and forms a tension spring 12', shown in F ig. l, for holding the paper imposition so that it will not crumple or wrinkle when being Written upon, and also so that too unich paper will .ing bvd so as to detach it from the portion which is now exposed for Writing. After passing over the bed plate, shown in Fig. l, the spring wire then again passes underneath the ccd plate and forms a spring and projects into the other end of the roll of paper so as to properly support same in position. Attached to the lower end of the writing bed 11 is a plate 14 of any desired maten rial, preferably nietal, so arranged as to form a tension device ior holding the lower end of the paper upon which a person is Writing in proper position, 'and also to forme paper cutter for cutting oi that part of the paper upon which a memorandum has been Written.. in the drawings l5 represents the paper 'for inaking memoranda.
also provide insulation 16 upon the inner side of the senii circular portions 2 and, so as to prevent 1y current et electricity pass inr 'through the arni to the hed plate and otner parts of the 'afrit-ing tablet.
Mai'iyinodi'lioations and changes may he made without departing troni the spirit of my invention.
Having thus described my invention, 'what I claiin and c esire to secure by Letters Faterit is IOC) Q geen? nocombinution, abed, and aholder secured 12, testn'xony 'Whelceof'7 halve sGned my thereto, Saul holder bemg formed of a smgle name to lus spemlcatlou, m the p'esenee of :o place of wue bent mto an approxlmate U- two subscribing Witnesses,
