Description

' UNITED STATES PATENT-OFFICE. j
JESSE'R. FITZGERALD, OF TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANA DAl COMPOSITION FOR FURNITURE AND PIANO POLISHING- Specification of Letters latent.
Annlication filed February 28, 190']. Serial No. 859,019
Patented June 4, 1907.
To all whom it may concern.-
' Be it known that I, JESSE ROLAND FITZ- GERALD, of the city of Toronto, in the county of York and Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented a certain new and useful Composition for Furniture and Piano Polishm Purposes; and I hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact descrip 'tion of the same. I l
. This invention relates to a polish composition for furniture, pianos, and the like, and it consists of forty-one parts-of turpentine, ten and one-third parts of black oil, one part of muriatic acid, two-thirds art of butter of antimony, five parts of oil of cedar and forty parts of benzin. The black oil which is one of the non-volatile oils distillation of crude to provide a body and color, and the turpen- .tin'e is em loyed as a mixer, for the composition. T e black oil and turp first combined and to them is added the muriatic acid and butter of antimon which operate to cutthe oily fat in the b ack oil. To this mixture then is added the benzin and the oil of cedar, the benzin being used to hold the other ingredients suspended to make up the requisite quantity of the polish at the proper consistency, and the oil of cedar being used to produce the requisite gloss. To the above compositionmay be added two parts of oil of citronella to provide it with a pleasant odor. The ingredients of the composition are then intimately mixed-until properly combined.
The composition can be applied in the same manner as other polishes of a like nature obtained during the, petroleum is employed entine are are now applied. When the composition has dried upon the applied surface it can be rubbed in the usual manner until a perfectly smooth and highly polished surface is obtained.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A composition polishing purposes, of turpentine, black oil, muriatic acid, butter for furniture and piano of antimony, oil of cedar, and benzin.
2. A composition for furniture and piano polishing urposes, consisting of a mixture of turpentlne, black oil,.muriatic acid, butter of antimony, .oil of cedar, benzin and oil of citronella.
3. A composition for furniture and piano polishing purposes, consisting of a mixture of forty-one parts of turpentine, ten and onethird parts of black oil, one part of muriatic acid, two-thirds part of butter of antimony, five parts of oil of cedar and forty parts of benzin.
4. A composition for furniture and piano polishing purposes, consisting of a mixture of forty-one parts of turpentine, ten and onethird parts of black oil, one part of muriatic acid, two-thirds'part of butter 0f antimony, five parts of oil of cedar, forty parts of benzin and two arts of oil of citronella.
