SASH' LOCK AND HOLDER.

To all whom (It may concern:

'l 3e it known that I, ZAOHARIAH XEVERS, a cltlzen of the United States, residing at Santa Cruz, in the county of Santa Cruz andand employed as a means for regulating the air-supply in a room and enablingthe win dows to be leftpartly open and still be secure from intruders and burglars;

The invention consists in a device of the above character constructed substantially as shown in the drawings and hereinafter described and claimed.

Figure 1 of the drawings is a perspective view showing the holder secured to one .of the sashes and in an operative position, a portion of the window-frame and upper and lower sashes being shown; Fig. 2 a side elevation of the holder, partly in section.

In the accompanying drawings, A re resents a portion of a window-frame,.and C the upper and lower sashes, respectively, the holder being ap lied to the lower sash either on the right or eft, as found most desirable, this being left entirely to the discretion of the user.

or upper part of the holder and supports a screw-rod G, the threads thereof engaging the threads of a screwhole in the standard, so that the rod may be moved in a direction to or from the sash and may be provided with a thumb-piece e for convenience of turning it. To the inner end of the rod G is swiveled or otherwise connected a clamping-head H, which is preferably of malleable metal, with or without the cushion I, as found preferable, said cushion being of leather, rubber, or other resilient material that will not mar or otherwise injure the painted surface of the sash.

A ventilating sash lock and holder comprising a rectangu1ar strip of metal bent upon itself to provide a base of double thickness and the ends thereof extending upward and downward to form a standard and afast'eningclip res ectively, the lower portion of the double ase extending outward and forward beyond the standard and terminating in the clip, and a suitable screw-rod with clampinghead supported by the standard, substantially as and-for the pur ose set forth.
