PATENTED MAR. 5,v 1907.
UNITED STAIES PATENT OFFICE. I
ANTHONY A. FICENER, OF MANSFIELD, OHIO, ASSIGNOR TO' THE BARNES MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF MANSFIELD, OHIO.
` BRACKET.
Patented March 5, 1907.
Application filed January 10,1906. Serial No. 295.887.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AN'rnoNY A. FIoENR, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Mansfield, in the county of Richland and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and 'useful Improvements in Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in brackets, and refers more particularly to a wall-bracket adapted for 'supporting lavatories or for similar purposes.
The main object of my invention is to provide a rigid support for a lavatory which will permit of the ready attaching or removal of the lavatory without the use of tools.
Further objects of the invention are to provide a wall-bracket which' will be simple and durable in construction and practical and efficient for the purposes intended.
.These objects I accomplish by the mechanjsm illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figura 1 is avertical sectional view of my improved bracket with lavatoryA attached. Fig. 2 is a front elevaton of the bracket to show more fully the general construction of the-same. Fig. 3 is a vertical sec'tional view of the bracket, taken on line 3 3 of Fig. 2.
Similar letters of reference indicate the several parts throughout the views.
In the accompanying drawings the letter A design-ates the bracket proper, consisting' of a triangular frame having an upper horizontal side B. Upon the upper side of the frame and nearthe ends thereof are formed the recesses or pockets C, and in these pockets are adapted to fit the retaining-lugs D,
formed on the upper wall 'or back E of the At the lower corner of thel lavatory M.
' bracket is vformed the pair of vertically-arranged ears F, between which is pivotally secured thev catch-lever G. The lever is formed with a downwardly-extending handle portion H for Operating the same, and extending rearwardly from the handle is an| arm I. Mounted upon this arrr'is the coiled spring J, having its free end seatedin a recess K, formed in the face of the bracket. Above the ears F and formed integral therewith is the 'outwardly-projecting fiange L, against which the lower edge of the lavatory is adapted to abut. A securing-lug N is formed on the lower edge of the lavatory and is provided with a flange O, which is adapted to engage the lower face of flange L on the bracket, and thus prevent the Uplifting and accidental displacement of the lavatory.
After the bracket has been secured to the wall the retaining-lugs on the lavatory are inserted in the pockets of the bracket, andY the Weight .of the lavatory depresses the spring-pressed catch until it engages the locking-lug and securely looks the lavatory in place.
lt will be understood that my improved bracket may be used for many purposes similar to the one described, where a bracket is desired, that will allow ready detaching and seouring of the device su ported.
'From this description ta en in connection with the drawings, it will be readily a parent that I have accom lished all the ob- ]ects herein set forth an have provided a useful and praotical wall-bracket or support.
A I olaiml. A wall-bracket comprising a frame'having pockets formed in the upper edge thereof and a horizontally-projeoting lateral fiange near its lower ed e, and a spring-pressed catch-lever pivotal y mounted in the lower side of the frame beneath'said fiange.
2. In combination a lavatory having depending lugs formed on the upper edge thereof and a retaining-lug formed on the lower edge thereof, a wall-bracket having pockets formed in its upper edge adapted to be engaged by the de ending lugs of the lavatory and a flange to e engaged by the retaininglug of the lavatory, and a catoh-lever carried by the bracket and adapted to engage the retaining-lug of the lavatory.4
3. In combination a wall-bracket comprising a frame having pockets formed in the upper edge thereof and 'a lateral flange near its lower edge, and a securing-lever pivotally mounted in the lower edge of the frame, a lavatory having lugs engaging the pockets of the frame, and a retaining-lug adapted to be engaged by the eateh-lever, said fiange on Ic abut against the flange and be engaged by the lavatory, engaging the lower face of the the securng-lever. flange on the frame.
4. The combination With a Wall-bracket Signed at Mansfield this 19th day of De'- comprising a frame having pockets formed cember, 1905. in its upper edge, a catch-lever mounted in ANTHONY A. FICEN ER. the lower edge of the frame and a flange above Witnesses: said lever, of a lavatory having lugs to en- W. H. BOWERS, gage the poekets in the frame, and a fiange to E. T. S. CLIFFE.
