- means for automatically closing the gate or valve after each drawing operation and means for yieldably supporting the gate in contact with the discharge end of the faucet, thereby to prevent leakage.
A further object is to provide a sectional carrier pivotally .mounted for swinging movement on the faucet and provided With a recess for the reception of the gate or valve, the latter being provided with means for limiting the opening and closing movement of said ate.
A still further object of the invention is to generally improve this class of devices so as to increase their utility, durability, and efficiency, as well as to reduce the cost of manufacture.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the Construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinaf ter iully described, and illustrated in the acconparving drawings, it being understood that various elmnges in form, proportions, and mi nor details of eonstruction may be resorted to within the scope of the appended clains.

The im roved device consists ofa barrel or nozzle 5, aving one end thereof threaded, as indicated at 6, for attachment to abarrel or other liquid-containing vessel, and its op osite end deflected downwardlyand provi ed with a dscharge-orifice, the'walls of th'e nozzle at the discharge-orifice being convexed and provided with lateral extensions 7, forming a continu-ation of the convex walls of the nozzle or barrel, as shown.
Pivotally niounted for swinging movement on the barrel or iaucet, as indicated at 8, is a carrier, preferably formed in two sections 9 and 10, detachably Secured together `by screws or similar fastening devices 11.
The arms 9 and 10 are bent inwardly, as indicated at 12, and spaced from the adjacent convex face of the nozzle to form a recess 13, in which is seated a gate or valve 14, the latter being curved to conform to the curvature of the discharge end of the nozzle and provided with terminal laterally-extending flanges 14 which bear against the angular portions 12 of the arms, as shown, thereby looking the valve in position on the carrier. The arms 9 and 10 are each provided with a reduced extension 15 having recesses formed therein, which when the arms are assenbled, form a longitudinal bore 16, 'communicating With the recess 13, as shown, and in which is seated a coil-spring 17, which exerts a yieldablepressure on the gate or valve 14, and thus prevents leakage. One end of the spring 16 bears against a plunger 17', while the opposite end thereof engages afollowerblock 18, the pressure eXerted on'the valve 14 through the medium of the plunger ,17 being regnlated by means of an adjustingscrew 18', threaded in the walls of the extension 15, as shown. 4
Secured to or formed inte ral with the arms 9 and 10 is an operating-landle 19, 'by means of which the valve 14 may be moved to opened position, the u ward movement of the valve being` limited by a pin or lug 20, extending laterally from the, concave face of said valve and adapted to engage the Walls of a recess 21, formed in the discharge end of the barrel or nozzle, as shown. Having thus described the invention, what 'i-s claimezlis- 1. The combination With a discharge-nozzle having a convexface 'and proviie with lateral extensions forming a continuation of said face, a carrier pivotally mountel for swinging movement and having a gate asscciatezl therewith, means for yielslably sup porting the gate in engagement with the con-` vexface of the discharge-nozzle, means for ,limiting the opening movement of the gate, hangers pivotally mounted on the carrier,
'and a 'spring 'embracing the nozzle and en- 'gaging the .freeends of the hangers for automatically' closing the gate.
2. The combinaton with a discharge-nozzle, of a carrier mounted for swinging movement thereon, a gate associate wth the carrier, hangers pivotally mounted on'the'carrier, and a spring engaging the hangers for automatically closing the gate.
3. The combination-With a d-scharge-nozzle, of a carrier` pivotally mountecl for Swinging 'movement -thereon, a gate associated with the carrier, hangers pivotally mounted on the carrier and provided with terminal hooks, and a spring engaging the hooks for automatically closing the ate.
4. The combinationwit -'a discharge-nozzle, of a carrier pivotally mounted for Swingngmovement thereon, a gate supported by the carrier, hang'ers depenong from the carrier, and a spring encirclng the nozzle and having 'its terminals seated in the hangers.
5. The combination with' a discharge-noz-` zle provizlecl With laterally-extending lugs, of a carrier pivotally mounted -for swinging movement on the nozzle, a gate supported by the carrier, hanger-s pivotally mounted on the carrier and provided with terminal hooks., and a spring embracing the nozzle and having its intermediate portion coiled around the lugs and its terminals engaging the hangers.
6. The combination with a discharge-nozzle, of a carrier pivotally mountesl for Swinging movement tlereon and,provided with a recess, a %ate seated in the recess iand provded wit laterally-extending arms engaging the carrier, a follower, a s ring interpcsed between the follower and t e gate,-and a screw for aijustng the tension of the spring.
