PATENTED JAN. 29,1907.
J. c. BEAGH. HOSE SUPPORTER. APPLIOA TION FILED NOV. 18 1905.

JACOB C. BEACH, OF SHIRLEY, MASSACHUSETTS.
HOSE-SUPPORTER- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 29, 1907.
Application filed November 18, 1905. Serial No. 288,013.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JACOB C. BEACH, a citizen of the Dominion of Canada, residing at Shirley, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented. new and useful Improvements in Hose-Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in hose-supporters, and has for its object to provide a construction of cast-off which will admit of the ready disconnection of the hoseengaging members from the suspending member and also allow free motion of these parts when they are connected.
The preferred embodiment of the inven tion is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a front elevation of a hose-supporter embodying my invention, a portion only of the suspending member being shown. Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1 through the cast-off. Figs. 3 and 4 are detail views of the members of the cast-off.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates the suspending member of the device, which carries at its lower end an elongated loop 2, and 3 designates the hose-engaging members, pro vided at their lower ends with clasps or engaging devices 4. and connected at their upper ends to an elongated loop 5.
The cast-off consists of coupling- plates 6 and 7, having their respective upper an lower ends bent to form eyes 8 and 9, slid ably and pivotally engaging the outer arms of the loops 2 and 5 to permit the said suspending and hose engaging members to have free relative lateral sliding and pivotal motion upon one another to adapt the device to conform to the person of the wearer and accommodate itself to the movements thereof.
The coupling-plate 6 is apertured to receive a socket 10, which is annularly rooved, as shown at 11, to embrace the wall of the opening and is formed at its base or rear portion with a flange 12, constituting one of the walls of the groove and clenched against the rear face of the plate to clamp the same against the other wall or shoulder 13 of the groove, which is formed upon the side of the head of the socket. The plate 7 carries a spring-stud 1 1, having a stem or shank 15 projecting through an opening in theplate, and clamping-flanges 16 engaging the opposite sides of the plate and securing the stud thereto. This stud may be of ordinary constructionthat is, composed of two members having a suitable interlocking engage mentand is adapted to engage the socket 10 to couple the members of the cast-off together.
It will be apparent that the construction provided admits of the ready disconnection of the parts of the supporter and their free movement relative to one another, thus rendering the supporter easy and comfortable to the wearer.
Havin thus described the invention, What is claimed as new is 1. A hose-supporter comprising suspending and garment-engaging members, metallic loops carried by said members, and a cast-off consisting of a pair of couplin plates, respectively, slidably and. pivotafly engaging sbaid loops and carrying interlocking memers.
2. A garment-supporter comprising suspending and garment-engaging members, metallic loops carried by said members, apair of coupling-plates provided at their respective upper and lower ends with eyes slidably and pivotally engaging the loops, and each having an opening therein, and a separable fastener for connecting said plates consisting of a stud and a socket carried by the plates, each member of said fastener comprising parts formed with flanges, one part passing through the opening in the plate and the flanges being arranged to form a groove receiving the edge of the late about the opening and clamping the p ate between them.
In testimony whereof I aiflx my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JACOB C. BEACH.
