Be it known that I, HENRY E. BARNETT, of Easthampton,in the county of Hampshire and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Loop for Suspender-Ends; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the` accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent, in-

This invention relates to an improvement in loops for suspender-ends-that is, the loop to which the suspender-end is attached and with which the cast-off is connected, and particularly of cast-offs for Suspenders of the Guyot type. l

As usually constructed, the loop has tw slots through which the suspender-end slides and an upper slot through which the cast-off strap extends, the bars forming the loop being all in thesame plane. With loops of this character the cast-oft generally consists of a strap fixed at its upper end to a loop through which the suspender-web passes, the free end of the strap passing throughthe upper slot of the loop of the suspender-end and upwardinto engagement with itself, the means of engagement commonly employed being the balland-socket fastener, the socket being secured to the front end of the strap. With the usual loop for a suspender-end it is necessary that the socket member shall pass horizontally through the upper loop in order to permit the strap to be disengaged therefrom; but in com mon practice the socket member will catch lor bight on the loop and prevent ready displacement.

The object of this invention is to so construct a loop for a suspender-end that the cast-off strap, with its socket member, will readily pass through it, and thereby permit the suspender-end to be readily disengaged; and it consists in outwardly bowing the top bar of the loop of the suspender-end, so that the cast-olf strap may be drawn upwardly through it without having the socket member bind or wedge in the loop; and the invention consists in the construction as will be more fully hereinafter described, and particularly recited in the claim. f

As shown in the drawings, the loop for a suspender-end like those hitherto constructed consists of a member having two slots A B, through which the suspender-end C may be passed, and a wider slot D, through which the cast-off strap E extends, the cast-oif loop being substantially the same as hitherto constructed, except that its upper bar F is outwardly bowed beyond the plane of the slots A B, as clearly shown in Fig. 4. As in suspenders as heretofore constructed, the castod strap E is secured at one end to a loop G, through which the suspender-web H passes. At the upper end of the cast-off strap E is a ball or stud member J, and at the outer end of the strap is a socket member K of the usual stud-and-socket fastener, the free end of the strap being adapted to be passed through the slot D and the socket connected with a stud, as shown in Figs. l and 2, so as to connect the suspender-end with the suspender-web.

By bowing the upper bar of the loop a clearance-opening is formed, which permits the cast-off strap to be drawn upwardly through the loop D and avoids the possibility of the socket member becoming wedged therein.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
