  • Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2008-97727 discloses technology in which, in the case of playing back a cut designated by the selection of a thumbnail, a distribution of information obtained when that cut was shot (attribute information) is visually displayed on a time axis along with a cursor in parallel with the moving image.

  • the display controlling apparatus of the present embodiment enables a copy of a segment having a predetermined fixed length in a moving image to be generated starting at a start position that has been designated during the playback of the moving image. Also, during the playback of the moving image, a time-series indicator displaying frame images of the moving image that is being played back, and a segment indicator indicating a fixed-length segment starting at the current playback position on the time-series indicator are displayed in synchronization with the playback of the moving image. This enables a copy start instruction to be given after having confirmed what kind of images are included in the fixed-length segment.
  • the attribute information control unit 108 associates the values of the received metadata and display bitmap data that has been provided in advance.
  • the attribute information control unit 108 also compares the current playback position received from the playback control unit 103 and the time information of each piece of metadata, and sends bitmap data for metadata that is necessary for display to the attribute information display unit 111 .
  • the face data table has been registered in advance in FIG. 6B , it is possible to generate face images for all faces that are recognized when the attribute information generation unit 107 analyzes the moving image data, and automatically register the generated face images in the face data management table 602 . Accordingly, even if a cut in which an unregistered face appears is played back, a face image icon is automatically generated and displayed during playback.
