To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JAMES EDWARD LAW- RENGE, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at West Shefi'ord, county of Shefford, in the Province of Quebec, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Thill-Tugs; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in thill-holders; and it consists in certain features of novelty in the construction and arrangement thereof, all as hereinafter more fully described, and specifically pointed out in the claims.

The object of the invention is to provide a device of the character described which will be simple in construction and economical in use and which will be so cushioned as to avoid injuring the thills which are supported thereby, the invention comprising, primarily, a frame structure having approximately parallel curved side members spaced apart so as to provide an opening therebetween, with a saddle-strap-supporting means comprising, preferably, a buckle formed integral with the side members of the frame and having cush.

Referring to the drawings, in which similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in both views, Figure 1 is a perspective view of one form of the device with the saddle-strap and billet-strap connected thereto. Fig. 2 is a side elevational view.

Referring to the drawings, 9 indicates gen erally a frame having side members 10, which are approximately parallel below the buckleloop 11. The metal comprising said buckle-loop 11 and side bars 10 is curved, as shown, thence is curved inwardly to form the bridges 12, and continues, as shown in these figures, being curved substantially parallel with the members 10, and rises upwardly to and slightly beyond the buckle-loop 11, where the tongue 13 is formed by a continuation of the inner members 10*. Thus an integral wire frame structure is produced having a buckle-loop at one end with approximately curved hooked portions at the opposite end, which hook portions serve as thillsupports.

Carried by the members 10 is apad 14. Looped to the members 1O" and integral with said pad or connected therewith is the billetstrap 15. The saddle-strap 16 isconnected, as shown, with the tongue 13, passing through the perforations therein, and the lower end of said strap passes through the box-loop 17, which is provided for retaining the lower end of the saddle-strap.

In this device the pad 14 forms a cushion which will prevent abrasion of the thill which rests thereupon.

Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. A thill-holder comprising a wire bent centrally thereof to form a loop, the side members thereof being bent to form supplemental loops, and the ends of said wire forming a buckle in connection with said firstnamed loop, said supplemental loops being upwardly curved to form a thill-socket.

2. A thill-holder comprising a wire bent centrally thereof to form a loop, the side members thereof being bent to form supplemental loops and the ends of said wire forming a buckle in connection with the firstnamedloop, said supplemental loops being curved to form a thill-socket, and a thill-pad secured to said socket and terminating in an integral billet-strap.

3. In a device of the character described, an integral frame comprising a buckle and a thill-support having side members and a central loop forming supplemental loops which are bent to form two separate loops and. constitute the thill-support proper, the inner portions of said supplemental loops constituting the return portions and forming the tongue of the buckle.

4. A thill-holder comprising a wire bent centrally to form a loop, the side members thereof being bent toform supplemental loops and the ends of said wire forming a buckle in connection with said first-named loop, said supplemental loops being upwardly curved to form a thill-socket, and a pad removably secured to the supplemental loops.
