IMPRVEMEN T IN SEEEP-SHEARING'TABLE.
To a!! whom Ait ma/y concern:
Be it Aknown that I, JOSEPH T. STYER, or" Rich- Wood, in the county of Union, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in a Table upon-Which to Shear and Handle Sheep; and I do declare that the following is a true and accurate description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, and being a part of this specication.
The nature of my invention is to so construct a table for sheep-shearing purposes that its height can be adjusted, that one or more persons can Work at the same table upon different animals, and that the sheep cannot tear the fleece by restlessness, nor in the struggle injure itself, and by which easy` control can he had over the animal.
In order to accomplish this end, I construct atable, A, sustained upon legs-or standards B, provided with joints or hinges, so that they canbe folded, and attached to the under side of -the table by other joints or hinges, and, when unfolded, held in position by the rods G, which pass through eyes D, upon each section of the leg'or standard. Upon the top of the table I place one or more concave disks, E, between the bottom of which and the top of the table and the Washers or standards F, through which, as Well as the disks and table-top, there pass 'bolts G, which allow the disks to revolve. When laid upon the diskor bowl, its peculiarform ts, to a certain extent, the rotundity of the sheeps body,' hips, or hind end. And being raised'from the plane of the table, tis restlessness will not injure the ileece, which falls over the edge of the disk. By the hinges in the legs or standards, and by which they are attached to the table, the height of the same may be adjusted as maybe desired, or folded up for transportation. By the use of this table the animal cannot be injured by struggling, for it is completely managed with comparatively little strength, care, or effort.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The construction of a sheep-shearing table, A, provided with folding legs or standards B, and revolving concave disks E, when operating substantially as and for the' purposes herein set forth.
