The invention relates to an improved indicating attachment for bottles, primarily designed for use l.with bottles containing poison or the like and serving to indicate to dispenser the nature of the contents of the bottle.

The main object of the present invention is the production of an indicating device of the class described which is adapted for ready and convenient use with anybottle and which when in operative position will prevent the withdrawal of the cork of the bottle until the device is -moved to inoperative position., thereby serving to indicate to the dispenser the nature of the contents ci the bottle and preventing the accidental or unintentional-use of improper' materials in -filling prescriptions or the like.

The preferred details of structure of the present invention will be described in the following specification, reference being had particularly to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure lis a sectional view, partly in elevation, illustrating the application of my improved indicator. Fig. 2 is a plan of the same with the bottle removed. Fig. 3 is an elevation of the device. Fig. 4 is a plan of, a slightly-modilied form of guard. Fig. 5 is a vertical section oi the same.

Referring particularly to the drawings, my improved indicating attachment comprises an annular band 1 ol' a diameterand height to wholly include the projecting portion 'of the cork 2 beyond the mouth ot the bottle 3. The upper edge of the band is vertically slitted and cut away to provide a series of' spur-sha ed projections 4, the alternate pro-- liections plane of the band, thereby providing a series of vspurs extending vertically from the upper edge of the band and a second series of spurs extending horizontally from the up er edge oi the band. The spurs thus rovi ed serve to indicate the presence of t 1e guard in the Yattempt of thedispenser to remov the cork from the bottle, thereby `advising him of the nature of the bottles contents.
