To all whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, JOHN F. RANDALL, a citizen of the 'United States, residing at rookin s, in the county of Brookings and State of outh Dakota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Soap- Holders; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention is an improved soap-holder, having means whereby it may be detachably secured to a tub, bucket, an, or other vessel, and adapted for use in ho ding the soap after the water in the vessel has been Vsoap-ed to a suitable extent and to prevent waste of the soap; and'my invention consists in the construction, combination, and arran ement of devices hereinafter described and c aimed.

`In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of my improved soapholder. Fig. 2 is an elevation of the same, showing the soa -holder attached to a vessel. Fig. 3 is a detaiIview showing the construction of the holding-spring.

The soap-holder is here shown as a rectangular pan of suitable depth provided in one side, which I will call the inner side, with drainage o enings which extend throu h the bottom. he bottom is also provide with ridges 2 to support the soap in a slightlyelevated position, so as to cause the water on the soa to drain therefrom.

To tllie under side of the holder is secured a spring clamping and supporting element 4, which is made of a single piece of spring-wire, preferably brass wire. The same is dou preferably brass wire. The same is doubled and bent at its ends to form arms 5 to bear against the inner side of the vessel and the horizontal portions 6, which are secured to the bottom of the holder. The said springwire is also bent to form the outer arms 7,

each of which includes a volute 8. The said volutes merge in downwardly-extending terminating portions 9, which are connected by a bar 10. It will be understood that the outer arms 7 and their volutes 8 by pressing against theouter side of the vessel serve to securely clamp the device thereto and that when the holder is removed from the vessel it may be placed on a table or other object, where it will be supported in a horizontal position by the arms 5 and the said arms-7.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is`

The herein-described soap-holder comprising the vessel to hold soap and aspring clamping and supporting element on the under side thereof formed from a single ieoe of s ringwire and comprising the dou led U-s a ed end portions forming the' innerdepen ing arms to bear against the inner side of a tub or other vessel, the horizontal portions extended transversely across and secured to the under side of the vessel, the outer depending arms formed at the lower ends with volutes which extend toward the inner arms and under the vessel to bear a inst the outer side of the tub and coact wit the inner depending arms to form clamps, the down-l wardly and outwardl extending terminals of the volutes, and the Ibngitudinal bar uniting said terminals, substantiall as described.
