UNITED STATES JOHN H. ALLISON, OF ELKHART, INDIANA.
S OLDERING-BLOCK.
No. 831,026. Specfieation of Application filed September 11, 1905. Serial No. 278.458.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN' H. ALLIsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Elkhart, in the county of Elkhart and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Soldering-Blocks; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention has relation to improvements in soldering-clamps; and the construction consists of a base-plate having a ring-shaped sup port nounted thereon and provided with opposite ly-arranged segmental clamps pivoted above the ring, said plates being construeted to conform to the contour of said ring whereby to permit of the article to be soldered having a support above said base-plate and readily accessible from all points, as will be hereina'fter described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side view of the invention, showing the manner of using the same. Fig. 2 is a central vertical longitudinal sectional View, and Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view taken on the line with the adjusting or clamping screw.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 denotes a ring, on one side of which are arranged oppositely-disposed segmental clamping-plates 2, said plates being adjustably connected to the base-ring 1 by means of set-screws 3.
Letters Patent. Patented. Sept. 18, 1906.
A base-plate 4 is Secured to the ring l, and to said base-plate and ring is Secured a handle 5, having a tang 5', whereby said clamp may be Conveniently held when in use, said tang being provided with a shoulder 5 which contacts with the periphery of the ring l.
In using the device the spectacles are arranged thereon and securely clamped in place by the plates 2, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings, thus holding the spectacle-frames in correct position to receive the solder which secures the same together.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing's, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended eXplanation.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A base-plate and a ring-shaped support carried thereby, segnental clamps pivoted above said ring and conforming to the contour thereof, whereby the article to be soldered is supported above the base-plate and readily accessible from all points.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of tWo subscribing witnesses.
JOHN H. ALLISON.
