To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Lucius C. Hermia, of the city of Phihulelphia, county of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and improved Combination-Gane; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full,vclear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the saine, reference struction and operation.

I make my cane hollow, and in seven dierent parts, which I will style as follows: First, cap C; second, pipe P third and foiu'th, case S U, and tobacco-pouch T P; fifth, pipe-stem holder I S H; sixth, match-safe M S; seventh, extra. cap E O for head of cane when pipe P is in use;

Pipe P is a pipe of ordinary construction, the bowl B- Aof saidpipe being to prevent its burning out. Ou the lower partof coated on the inside with a. plaster the bowl is a chamber, N, for inserting the pipe-stemand also acting as a plug. On the upper and lower parts'of (although inseparable,) cigarthe bowl is cut a thread corresponding with cap O and cigar-case S O( Parts S C and T P are secured together by a tight-fitting `ioint, with a partition, N, between, the lower end of T P being provided with a thread corresponding with part P S H, in which it screws. The opening on the end of Y T P, which connects with P S H, is closed by a cork, O,-so as to prevvent the smoking-tobacco from entering `chamber PS H. On the lower end of part P S H iscut a thread corresponding with i, the opening in part P S H, which connects with M S, being closed by means of 'a plug or partition, P N. Lower part of M S is provided with a ferrule, F.A

In removing the pipe P from the cane, extra cap E O is screwed on to act as 'a head.

Having thus describedv my invention, its construction and operation,

What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is

A cane auanged as herein described, whereby one portion thereof is adapted to be used as a pipe, the handle of whicli is contained in a compartment foi-med in the same, and other portions of the body oi the cane being provided with receptacles for cigars, tobacco, and' matches, the whole constructed as herein described.
