at the same time to prevent escape of the odors or ontact of the parts with the pocketor other carrying means. V p
Still further the invention aims'to' provide a cigarette holder in which the parts can be easily and quickly cleaned and-wherein same are of simple and economical" con struction.
The invention has still further and other objects which will be later set forth and manifested in the course of the following description.
In the drawings:
Figure 1, is an elevation of the parts in their housed or collapsed position;
Figure 2, is a longitudinal sectional view with the parts in operative position;
Figure 3, is a like view of one of the end caps, and
Figure 4, is a section on line ll of Figure 2.
In proceeding in accordance with the present invention, a tubular body 1 is employed preferably of ovaloid cross section, as depicted in Figure 4. The body has open ends and altords a combined holder proper for the cigarette and a casing or housing for the mouthpiece 2. The mouthpiece may be of any desired construction and has a cap 3 attached to its inner end, the cap being formed with a bead 4 intermediate its ends to engage the end of the body 1. The cap has an end wall 5 formed with a hollow knob '6, the knob having a central perform tion 7 and radial perforations 8, the several perforations affording ports or openings through which the smoke from the cigarette is drawn into and through the mouth piece. As shown in Figure 2 the end wall 5 is bowed outwardly from the adjacent end of the mouthpiece 2 so as to form a chamber 9 JEAN GEORGE THnoaffording ea s to provide free the smoke cap 10' having a jbead l'l is'r'ernov'ably con; nected to thei opposite end otthe tubular body 1, the two caps IOheingof like construction or formation so as to provide a symmetrical appeafancewhen the parts are inthe housed or collapsedposition illustratedin Figure i I also afford tree drawing of the cigarette when'the' parts are in the position of Fig ure 2". 1
In operation, with the parts illustrated in the housed position of Figure 1 will be seen thatthe cap 3 is in a reverse position'to that illustrated in Figure Q, the mouth piece 2 in Figure 1 l'oeing disposedon th interior of the body 1, and the cap 10 being applied to the opposite end o t the' body 1; Iniorfl der to assemble the parts for use, the cap 10 is removed and also the" rap 3, each being then reversed and insertedljinto the opposite ends of the body l' as' shown-iii Figure 2; The cap 10, in the latter instance then serves as a socket or holder to receive the end of the cigarette, while in the position of the y drawing ofy trom the cigarette} sim larv l of the drawing, and
parts in Figure 1, the cap 10 serves to close the body, the latter containing the mouthpiece. The cap 10 if desired can be removed from the Figure 2 andthe cigarette held directly by the body 1. With the parts in the position of Figure 1 it will be seen that the mouth piece caps 3 and 10 serve to close the ends of the body so as to prevent the escape of tobacco odors from either the body or the mouth piece. The parts can thus be carried either in the pocket or in a bag or otherwise, without any possibility of the tobacco odors being communicated to the pocket or a bag or the like, and in addition the mouth piece is prevented from contacting with thepocket or other carrying media.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a collapsible cigarette holder, a tubular body open at each end and aitording a holder for the cigarette and a housing for the mouthpiece, a cap on the inner end of the mouthpiece having a bead intermediate its ends and having either of the latter receivable in the body, said cap having an end wall and a hollow knob extending out formed with a central opening and with is in the body and the from the end wall, the knob being i radial openings, and a cap of a similar construction having each of the ends thereof, receivable in the body for closing the op posite end of the body in one position and in a reversed position afi'ording a holder proper for the cigarette.
2. In a collapsible cigarette holder, a
tubular body open at each end and afiording a holder for the cigarette and a housing for the mouthpiece, a mouthpiece, a cap on the inner end of the mouthpiece having either of its ends receivable in the body, and a reversible cap for closing the opposite end of the body and for providing a holder if. proper for the cigarette.
3. In a cigarette holder, a body having open ends, a mouthpiece, means to removably connect the mouthpiece to one end of the body and with the latter providing a holder for the cigarette, said means being formed to connect the mouthpiece to the body and to house the mouthpiece in the body, and means for closing the opposite end of the body and for affording a holder proper for the cigarette.
4. In a cigarette holder, a tubular body, open at each end, a mouthpiece, a cap fitted over one end of mouthpiece and having a perforated outer end wall, stop means on the cap between its ends, said cap in one position having one end engaging in the body to hold the mouthpiece therein and in a second position having its opposite end engaging in the body to hold the mouth piece projecting out from the body so as to enable the latter to serve as a holder proper for the cigarette, and means to close the opposite end of the body.
5. In a cigarette holder, a body, a mouthpiece, means to connect the mouthpiece to the body so as to be housed by the latter in one position and to project outwardly therefrom in a second position, and combined body closing and cigarette holding means formed for connection with the body to close the latter in one position and in a second position to hold the cigarette.
6. In a cigarette holder, a body, a mouthplece, connected to the mouthpiece, said caps being reversibly received in the body whereby to house the mouthpiece in the body with the other cap closing the body in one position of the parts and in a second position to hold the mouthpiece projecting outwardly from the body and with the other cap forming a holder proper for the cigarette.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
