IMPROVED BUCKLE.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 82,768, dated October 6, 1868.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, S. A. TENNEY, of the town of Muskego, (Durham Hill P. 0.,) county of Waukesha, and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Buckles, within described; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which Figure l is a side view of the buckle and strap, with one side of the box part of the buckle removed. Fig. 2 is a top view of the box part of the buckle. Fig. 3 is an endview of same. Fig. 4 is the wedge part of the buckle, showing its rough bottom.

Operation: Strap 0 having one end fastened into loop G on block B, the 'other end is laid in box A. Block B is then slid into box A, the projectionsFenterin g grooves E. Then by pulling on the upper part of the loop made by strap 0, loop I being attached to'any firm hold. Then as the strap G is pulled the block B is wedged down onto the strap and holds the part under the block B firmly in place; or another strap may have its end placed under the block B while its other end is held, and as you pull on block B it will be held firmly.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A clamp or buckle consisting of the frame A, having inclined grooves E, made in the side pieces, D, and the block B, provided with inclined flanges F, and the loop G, all substantially as described.
