IMPROVEMENT IN FLOOI--GI'lAlYIISI TO ALL WHOM I'l MAY CONOERN:

Be it known that I, JOSEPH H. FERREIRA, of Newark, in the county of Essex, and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and improved Floor-Clamp; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to lhe accompanying drawings, and to the letters of ref'erei1ce takeno'; therefore,

f My invention is a simple device for clamping purposes, and may be used as a floor-clamp, or applied to a work-bench, and consists in certain partsLwhich are adapted to operate in the manner as will be hereinafter more fully described. A

In the description of my invention, A is -a bed-piece, resting on a beam, B, and held in its place, while in action, by a shackle, C, one on each side of the beam.

Figure 2 shows the shackle separately. i

D is a. bolt, sliding inthe bed-piece, and reacted by the spiral spring C. `The bolt is thrown forward against the work by the lever F and the cam G, which becomes a. simple Yand very eicient power for the use.

The dotted lines show the bolt thrown forward against the work.

This clamp is capable of being used on a carpenters bench, by 'having two or more pins, H H, underneath' the bed, and going into the bench. Y

The shackle catches under the beam, and, when thc lever is thrown forward,- il; is made tight,`allo\ving any required pressure on the lever; but,-by,sliding the clamp forward, the'shackle is loosencd,^and the whole is What I'claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- The combination, inra clamping-device, of cam G, plunger D, spring E, and shackle C, or pins H, operating substantially as and for-the purpose described.
